Cleaning water line scum off of a fiberglass boat

I have been told that oven cleaner will work for this also. I never tried it but I did use the muratic acid. I diluted it a little and used one of those garden sprayers. It did a great job. I had a 30' Bayliner that had sat in the harbor for a long time before I bought it. It had a green line right at the water line that came right off with no scrubbing. Sprayed on the muratic acid, let sit for a couple of hours and then pressure washed. No more line.

Maguires Liquid Cleaner/Wax works great. Or just the Cleaner if its nasty and then a second coat with the cleaner/wax.

I would not use any cleaner with abrasive chit.

I've heard that a solution of Vinegar and water will keep it off. Not sure if it will work after it's caked on like you have but I've been told to keep a bottle in my boat and spray it down after a day on the water and it keeps the scum off.

Funny...I JUST bought a 1 gallon pump sprayer to do that exact thing for our boat. Our boat is only on the water when we aer using it...(we pull it out during the week).

It definately is a different color underneath.

We see people use apple cider vinegar in their sprayers on their boats right when the pull them out every time. Sooooooooo, we are gonna try it.
