It will come out in two pieces. I just cleaned mine with no problem. Pull off the cover (careful of the O ring) . To get the raves out you have to pull it out, then up to clear the steering post. My steering was straight, and there was no issues. Careful when your assembling the plastic gearing to hold the white pieces in the vert position. \if they are not vertical, you will get binding. Make sure you have a new gasket for against the block, its not liklely to be any good. There are detailed posts on here somewhere right from the manual.do a search RT 1000 FAQ
