Cle Elum Area Grooming

I'm sad to hear that Boulder Creek Grooming (Don May) gave up the contract to groom the south side of I-90 in the Cle Elum area. This includes the Taneum, Manantash, Quartz Mtn, Woods/Steel, etc. Don, Tim and the crew did a fantastic job; last year they kept one groomer at the bottom of the Cle Ridge Road and the other at the bottom of Woods/Steel.

Now, Don has sold those Groomers to a new operator and they MAY be based out of Sky Meadows. Don't know anything about the new contact holder and wish them the best. BUT, there is a learning curve and they have a long ways to go to get it as good as it was last year.

Boulder Creek will still be doing "The Valley" (Salmon La Sac, Cooper, French Cabin, Teanaway, etc). A big thanks for the job done on the south side of I-90.

Oh goody!! snow's around the corner...! I know this to be true, 'cause the "Grooming threads" are starting. I LIKE these..! :p Into the fire I go.....

Seriously, I rode Woods/Steel for the first time last year. The grooming there was AWESOME. Learning curve for sure to the newbi's.. best of luck. We're an opinionated bunch for sure...

:D

If they are based out of Sky Meadows at least that side will get some grooming. Last year they never did any grooming from Elk Heights to Sky Meadows, or the trail that leads to the Taneum. Logging had alot to do with that, but it still sucked!

I own a lot in SkyMeadows and I've not heard this.... I do know we groom our own roads and do own a groomer... The Sky Riders have quite a few people who own lots at SkyMeadows maybe they know something about this.

I heard this directly from one of the groomers that works for Boulder Creek. He said the new owner is connected with the "SkyRiders" club. I was putting thru Sky Meadows on my dirt bike last week and saw 2 groomers parked at a cabin.

Now if Don would just buy the Last Resort back(the Dimlight). The new management is trying to charge $14.50 for a shot of Patrone.

Gawd, isn't that the truth. For me, it went from dimlight to "no-light" last winter when I'd stop in to eat and find they were closed 4 days a week. Haven't been back.

We have a cabin in Driftwood and told them we (or all our friends) won't be comming up there if they want to charge Bellview prices. If that happens I don't think they will stay in buisiness much longer. Oh well, my liver could use the break.:beer;

The grooming was superb in that area last year. I can only hope for same this year....got my fingers crossed!!! :p

As for the Last Resort....I will always call it that....

They had a really good chef in there over the Winter...I had some incredible meals there. The dessert was to die for...Espresso Brownies with ice cream.

But I think he headed back to the West side. :(

I haven't been in for months.

grooming money is still in our hands

The state has not "taken" our money yet but I'm sure they are looking at it. For now State parks and the State motorized committee still handle it . We will have less money to groom this year due to less sled registrations last season. I think all the contractors took a 5 % cut in funds, we just did not have the money in the budget, and thats after they "disected" the entire state buget for grooming and plowing line by line. A lot of items in the budget got whacked or cut significantly just to keep as much money on the snow as possible. I know this is an old song, but we need to raise our license fee's. Thats the cold hard facts.

How about we give the Jet boys $20 and they can appropriate the funds so the trails stay groomed!!

Dan - Got UR PM's - Will work on tracking down the new groomers info - Be outta town on m/c trips a while - Git back 2U soon.....LCE

Is the state going to take our grooming funds this year? or is it just the ORV NOVA money they wanted?

I wanted to confirm what Dan Johnson wrote regarding the level of grooming funding available. My sources from Wssa agree with Dan; look for about a 5% cut in the funds that were available from last year.

This is not from our accounts being "raided", but more likely due to less sleds being registered; meaning let of the fuel tax money being allotted.......So, if you have friends that don't register their sleds, twist some arms and pay up!!
