Well as a tribute to Dave Ill do this one less the spell checker.

The first thin I want to point out about Dave was how we ALWAYS got around to talking about our kids. I dont think (no BS here) I was ever with Dave we didnt get to talking about our kids. There some good stories here but a little to personal for this place.

Dave and I were welding up a Y pipe for a buddy of mine. Dave had met him a couple times already (my bud was blown away Dave wanted me to bring it right over and fix it) My bud was not a talented rider. He had a bit of a weight problem. We (me & Dave) were talking about ways my bud could improve. I guess Dave took exception to how I said my buddy needed to shed some weight ( I didnt think it was harsh but he did) anyway I got my a$$ chewed for talking about a "friend" that way. Dave took friends real serious. We talked it out and he saw my point and all was good the three of us went to the Fairview Shootout that year... That was the year he pulled my dead goat out from Race Bowl in a white out so bad I couldnt see him and had to drag my feet at times to know if we were moving. Ask Old#7 on here if he thinks Dave saved a few lifes that year!! God bless ya buddy wish you were here!

You guys are amazing! In a day we reached our goal! I've received $1,105.00 already from you all! Thank you to everyone who has sent money. Your generosity humbles me! I am sure this will make Christmas a little brighter for Animal's ladies....

I remember one time he said he was working on his sledding balance in the off season so he was jumping on the trampoline with his kids...LMAO

Kim Sorry I didn't make it back to you. Timing didn't work today.(Your fault! Go to work before noon for hells sake!!) What time will you grace your office tomorrow morning?? 10? 11? Noon? Or is it your early day...9:30??;)

Make this dinner happen already will ya kim?

I met Dave just over two days before he passed. My cousin was coming into town from Vermont for a week of riding. I was still fairly new to the riding seen here in Utah and didn't have a lot of riding buddy's here. That was when I saw the post about the 2nd annual ANIMAL ride. I asked who all was invited to such an event and promptly received a reply simply stating “EVERYONE!” This guy had no clue who I was and promptly gave me his cell number in case I had any questions. Several phone conversations later it was all set, my cousin and I would be staying at Dave's cabin and the only thing we need to bring was sleeping bags, drinks and some money if we wanted to “lose at poker”. We made arrangements to meet Dave the night before most were do to show and help Dave get things ready for everyone's arrival. There were several of us who showed up that night and in no time we had things set up at the cabin and we off for a night ride. It was an awesome ride with incredible snow and great people. Then the lefty throttle mishap. The next day was so awesome that even with the broken leg I asked for help stitching the broken belly pan and rode with a huge group of awesome riders and Animal was being a great host. Unfortunately my sled was running like crap due to the huge dent in the pipe. That combined with the increasing pain in my leg took me off the mountain that day. I almost think the broken leg was a blessing. I wasn't there to have to have to dig him out. I will never forget the gut wrenching sick feeling I had that night at dinner when I got the call. I had to ask twice to make sure I was hearing right. We went back up the cabin the next day to see if there was anything at all we could do to help. I was amazed to see how many people were there to do the same thing.

It was apparent from the first post that Dave was an exceptional man. Everything that has happened since that terrible weekend has proven Dave left a legacy that many of us will spend a lifetime trying to live up too. I thank Dave for introducing me to some great friends who are all willing to do what ever it takes to help each other out.

RIP my friend, we miss you!

Good job everyone... Kim, make sure you let me know when the dinner is. If I can make I sure would like to.

I'd talked to Dave on a few occasions and never actually met him until I went down to Salt Lake to work for a week in November. I made the comment that I'd be down there and he suggested that I bring my sled. I usually fly every where but this time I took the truck and the sled to see if it would work out. The Utah Mafia was having a get together at Tony Romas and I met everyone there one night. I didn't know anyone but showed up anyway. Dave came right up and introduced himself and told me where to sit. He talked all night about wanting to ride. He asked if I had my sled and I said I did... we ended up meeting the next day and he took me to meet some of the guys. My sled was new and I didn't have it full of gas yet... he pulled right up to the pumps filled the sled, bought me breakfast and drove his truck and wouldn't let me pay for a thing. I tried many times but he just said my money wasn't any good and it was his treat.
At that time he kept on telling me about an idea he had to get as many people to come to his cabin for the 1st ever Animal ride.
After that great day of riding I called my wife and some riding buddies and told them about the day I'd had with one of the nicest people I'd ever met. I told them all about the ride that was planned and that we were going. It was one of the best things I've done... meeting some great people.

I got the chance to fly to Salt Lake on many occasion and I never missed the chance to hook up with Animal. He always made you feel special...

Another funny story was when he had a bet with his co-workers to loose weight and he would make them all sorts of treats and take them to the office for them to eat. He wouldn't eat any and would go home and jump rope for as long as he could... I think he ended up winning the bet.:)

I didnt know dave, but he sounds like somebody I would count myself lucky to know...money sent....I have a few close friends like dave, they are what life is about..it sounds like dave was the person that I try to be..and this post bears witness to how good of friends he had...god bless you as well as his family.....paypal....mikehobsonak@hotmail.com

I have many "friends" like Dave because of the tragedy that happened that day. I consider you guys more like brothers! That way I can't feel bad about laughing and cracking jokes about you. Brothers always tease and argue with each other......right? :beer;:beer;:beer;

Blakey boy....I've been here for an hour already! Look at the time of this post! You are likely still wetting the bed and sucking your thumb! BTW....as I told you yesterday, driving around does not constitute work! ;)

Keep this up peeps....I love reading Animal stories! I have about 5 more emails overnight telling me of people sending money by paypal!....Unbelievable!!! :heart::beer;

Coyote, Scott and anyone else from out of state.....if you all are serious about possibly coming down you set the date and I'll find the place!

Great Pix.

A tradition that needs to carry on

Is there plans already for a 2009 ride?

Kim you just gotta throw a date out...Dec 6 6pm That is a sat. And 6pm is 6 hours after high noon!!

Now see if that will float or sink. Running our of time with the holidays you know!!

I think a weekday would be better for most. Maybe I am just speaking for myself but................my weekends are hammered from now through the holidays. If weekends work better though, the important part is that they get the money!

Kim, I got a text from you today at 3 O'Clock asking if I wanted to do lunch at 1?????? Did you mean tomorrow? WTF :confused:

Andy, I think we can collect donations up until the time we meet! I will just include all donations in one check to the ladies.....

Thank you so much to all who have so generously donated. Donations have come in from all over North America. Ironically, at least 50%, maybe more, have come from people who never met Dave. :)

I totally agree on the weekday. I was just thinking if out of towners were thinking of coming. My thoughts are get it done soon so money can help with the holidays. Thanksgiving can be expensive let alone Christmas.

So maybe we can choose between December 4 and the 6th. Im just throwing these dates out cause Kim keeps saying he has to ask his wife when it would be OK for him to go out to dinner:rolleyes:

The text went out early JDUB but my phone does that every now and then...Stupid technology!!
