Choosing an Intake for my M8......Which one?

-Yes, anything you do after the pipe kit will require some type of fuel controller to be safe.

-As for an intake I'd look for something that not only gives you more power/throttle response, but also removes weight from your sled, I've heard good things about the timbersled intake, and some like the black box setup from BD-X. Search the forum for these two intakes (there is lots of info on here about them) and see which one sounds better to you!

you wont gain enough power to feel it and in some cases will cause a loss of power. You will need a fuel controller. But I would go with the bdx just for the breathe ability and weight loss.

the cutler intake is also an option, i have heard the least negative comments about that intake, but i have heard of a lot less people that use it.

i think i'm gonna try the bdx kit, like the way after you drill all the vents you've got lots of places for fresh air. anyone had any troubles with trees poking in the vents??? for $170 it seems one of the cheaper options...

X2 for the BDX kit best bang for the buck!! I had the timbersled intake and it is very expensive and i didn't notice anything except the bog it made on my old 07 M8.:beer;

I'm personally running the speedwerx intake (very similar to the bdx intake) with my speedwerx setup and have never had any problems with trees poking the vents so far....if you didn't own a tree magnet you wouldn't have to worry about those issues :p

Trees??

I like the air box but I'm on my 3rd set of screens right now. If you're gonna buy the BDX kit, always have an extra set of screens on hand if you do lots of tree riding.
If I were to do it again, I'd buy the Timbersled kit so I would't have to screw with the screens.

x2 have extra screens i'm on my 4th set and i'm gonna change it before long. my problem is that the screens peel off, but I found if you rivit copper cut outs around the edges they stick pretty good. Maybe some day they'll bring back their snap on version.

I had the BDX box on my 09 M8 and it worked great. I never had any peel off. I ride the trees a lot ( thanks to a new outlook on riding courtesy of Mr Burandt) and I only put one small hole in one of the front nose vents. I would put one on again . It also drops quite a bit of weight.

I smoked a tree and no peeling, it cracked between two of the drilled holes and cut the screen so I just put some black gorilla tape on both sides and worked great to finish out the season. when you install it put tape over and sharp edges around the inner screen. Mine rubbed some small holes from the aluminum bulk head. I'm pretty rough on it, and wouldn't go without one after having it.

Go with a DS hood with plenum and SW big throat snorkel. Good wieght loss, best ventilation possible and never any bog problems. Tough too.
only draw back is the look like a Chuck Wagon at the Calgary Stampede.

I wonder if a set of these would work over the swiss cheese holes and screens used in the nose of the sled with the BDX air intake kit? It sure would make it much more clean looking.

go with cutlers

after building my own and looking at all options, they get my vote

have a 08 m8 with a slp exhaust kit and want some more power whats the best bang for the buck
any / all ideas
will i have to buy a boondocker?

I have had a Timber Sled, BDX and a CPC and I liked em' all. Timbersled was probably a little better but thats my opinion. I have heard good things about D&D's intake. And a Boon Docker box is a good investment.

I had a timbersled on my M1000 and it got snow around it and collapsed the filters. I think I would go with the bdx.

Vents

Frostbite,

Where do you get those screens at??? I think if you use the stock BDX filters with those over top would be pretty robust and will work great.
The only problem I have had with my scrrens is that there is lots of willows in the cutblocks where I ride lots and keep poking holes in the screens but those vents would fix it.
