Chiwawa River Pines, Mill Creek Mafia, gets access CLOSED!!!

Back-story is that about 3 years ago some of the board members decided that it would be a good idea to fight nightly rentals. They put it a vote associating and pitting nightly rentals against “good community businesses” such as; snow plows, groomers, ditch digger, etc. The vote was allow nightly rentals and the board would enforce a total businesses shut down; or, vote to enforce a water shutdown of nightly rentals and allow “good community businesses” to remain. In other words: let us kick out the folks with more properties than us cool board members or were going to not let the guy down the street plow your driveway or let the groomer work out of here.

This led to a law suit and some shady funneling of money from the treasury that was assigned through a water rate increase set aside for updating water valves to meters required to be compliant in 2016. This led to additional assessments specifically allocating money to sue other owners; that sued to allow nightly rentals never before limited by the community.

It turns out that there were 5 complaints against said rental businesses over some period of keeping score. I do feel bad for the neighbor that had to complain, but I could complain many times over for normal, non-rental, “neighbor” activities.

We lost the groomer from the community, through several reasons, but I was in the bar one night talking to an owner and his friend and heard him say if they pass the no nightly rentals he was out. Last season was the first under new ownership, a respected local family and I trust they will do a good job; but they had no reason to do two runs a night to the community and even less to hit the local access trails occasionally. It wasn’t until several calls were made to board members accusing the lawsuit problem on the lack of grooming that it was quickly resolved.

Worse off I recently have noticed all the private shared access points have been closed or being discussed as closing. We had a sweet access about 200 yards from my cabin directly to the trails… That is generally useable from ~ December 1 into March. Not a huge deal to a dedicated sledder, but a big hit on the overall sled community ambiance and desirability that made Chiwawa Pines the chit.

Lawsuit determination: one judge determined they couldn't limit 30 day or over rentals and another said they couldn't limit anything. So we spent well over $100000 and rapidly growing. Could have bought our own community groomer or paid an extra 10k a year and purchased some easements for access. The community board is appealing the decision hoping to keep pissing each other off… and spending and spending the rest of our money… Hmm sounds like another organization (insert any democrat controlled gvt.)

I just wanted to point out the bitterness that the children of the Greatest Generation hold against the next generation and themselves. Well if Obama wins, the government will take it all and give it to the communists who will eventually have a group of people who like to snowmobile and declare it a recreation getaway for the elite communist police. I guess I will either become a commie guide or the leader of the commie secret police.

Anti capitalist (must bring government provided/supported item) and conifer encroachment meadow maintenance patrols to begin in January!

That brings me to: what can I deduct for my "guided" services?

Rant intermission

So what the heck is this about?

It means we'll have to meet Powderminer at the sno park instead of unloading at his property for our guide tours. I'd be pissed if I bought property then couldn't access the trail system without loading up and trailering to sno park. I'm sure there's alot more to the story than just that, Powderminer will keep us informed, sucks for your community.

Basically it is about the once snowmobile centric community Chiwawa River Pines, near Fish Lake which has legal snowmobile roads and direct access to the groomed trails from your cabins, is under attack from within… Generally owners whom have gotten too old for or never liked snowmobiles are at war with those who do.

Exactly what 2theTop said is my and my neighbor’s problem.

If anyone knows people up there with access let me know please they may get extra Christmas bottles for some considerate sled passage on the weekends and holidays…

I called the community board president who informed me that the two actively used access trails in my area of the community are on private property. Apparently someone stopped to tell the owner to move his F-ing sled; and now he has fenced the trail and building a garage in the trail. Really a bummer because he was way more than a great guy that was putting up with a lot. The one at the top of the hill is private too and rumor is that the wife wants it closed and the husband is still ok with it… although there are gates (open) at each end. The President said that he has brought up the possibility of purchasing lots and having easements put in to the property description them reselling them… The board currently does not have this power, need a vote.

I went to the semiannual homeowners meeting and asked about the access. Asked what the ideas were. Was basically stared at and told that there have been people who ruined it for the others. No remorse or acknowledgment that some of the sour community sentiment is from the rental dispute leading to a full-blown lawsuit. They were all proud that some community in western WA was in support of them. The FS guy made the mistake of suggesting they are a government agency????? That is all we need they love apparent power and while I never before believed they could/would be corrupt, I am sure of it now! They are the folks that have shut down access and are proud of it and upset that anyone other than them owns a cabin in the community.

It is a sad state of affairs that there was at least 4 access points in my section as well as 2 other connection points and the old farts are resentful of anyone being on them. Ironic they are the first to break the rules or do whatever they want.

I have one thing I am going to pursue for the good of all in at least my section.

And on a good note I decided to talk to someone down on the end and met some real good people!!!

Funny thing will be when the mill creek mafia comes to fill my hot tub with rocks they will get a big (6’4”, 250lb) surprise :face-icon-small-win

Anyone here an expert on how to organize and permit a gay pride parade? Just incase I need to resort to azzholeism :face-icon-small-sho

Thanks Hiliner!

Hurley (B) Why don’t you buy one of the edge places over here… I might show you some secret spots :face-icon-small-win Oh, and the fires might be good for the shrooms next spring! The easy ones will be out as soon as it rains.

Access CLOSED is not an option!

Holy out of touch bat man! I have been fighting with the non-snowmobile owners that moved in and shut down our access trails on the lower side for years and now our only accesses up top are getting fenced too? I thought that looked different last weekend when I drove by. Didn't realize the fence actually blocked the access though. I'm sorry I missed the meeting I was working on a deck project that I was trying to get done before the weather changed. Sounds like we need to have a sledder community intervention. This is beyond ridiculous.

HM8, i am actively looking to make some friends for immediate access an also looking for long term solutions to ensure access for all into the future. Also, always icon-small-coo looking for riders to go with... trying to learn all the good spots, and willing to share some too :face-icon-small-coo

??

Thats the problem with people that move over here where the air is clean and all of sudden they want to live forever!! Dumb quote I know. See ya at the Fest hall on the 17th PMiner!

Nice definition :) Ain’t that the truth… so no one else can build a sweet garage in the fish lake area! It is real bad for the squirrels and my shiatsus and other endangered species ;)

On a serious note, I could use some help carrying the sled deck out of the garage tomorrow, lots of beer in the fridge? (425-870-0931) I will not have the computer. The guys that carried it in are mysteriously not coming over this weekend?

every access in the community goes through private property out of the kindness of the owners. The problem has been lack of respect and near collisions with owners kids playing. and as you said move your F***king sled... What a way to get cooperation.
