Child vs Parent court case over discipline...child wins

I can't believe this isn't a joke

OTTAWA (AFP) - A Canadian court has lifted a 12-year-old girl's grounding, overturning her father's punishment for disobeying his orders to stay off the Internet, his lawyer said Wednesday.

The girl had taken her father to Quebec Superior Court after he refused to allow her to go on a school trip for chatting on websites he tried to block, and then posting "inappropriate" pictures of herself online using a friend's computer.

The father's lawyer Kim Beaudoin said the disciplinary measures were for the girl's "own protection" and is appealing the ruling.

"She's a child," Beaudoin told AFP. "At her age, children test their limits and it's up to their parents to set boundaries."

"I started an appeal of the decision today to reestablish parental authority, and to ensure that this case doesn't set a precedent," she said. Otherwise, said Beaudoin, "parents are going to be walking on egg shells from now on."

"I think most children respect their parents and would never go so far as to take them to court, but it's clear that some would and we have to ask ourselves how far this will go."

According to court documents, the girl's Internet transgression was just the latest in a string of broken house rules. Even so, Justice Suzanne Tessier found her punishment too severe.

Beaudoin noted the girl used a court-appointed lawyer in her parents' 10-year custody dispute to launch her landmark case against dear old dad.

It's a sad day when children get to dictate how they are taught value's as value's will become extinct and children will become ignorant adults, such as the Justice that undermined the parents teaching ability's. Just ignorance!

so when that little girl gets outta control! maybe the dad can sue the courts for letting her become like that?

Thre's the problem, right there.

So this first time when he actually tans her hide, is it child abuse, or something else, since she had a ruling against him. ( Too much precidence on this being set, sadly)

Holy crap 12, I was deafly afraid of my parents until atleast 15-16, then I still got may azz beat(when I thought was man enough) in a pure fist fight, thought I was tough enough against an ex MARINE. Should me right from wrong, thank god...( Is it to late too sue to say thank you.)

Now we are all f'd because of this family, like it or not...

Simple Fix. Break Her Cell Phone toss her tv out the window Break the comp and say Buy ur own crap.

Now how about Dem Apples?

I did this 2 my parents and they did what i stated to me. needless to say after i got taken out in the back yard a few times with good old pop and mom im a good boy now.

If it were me, that 10-year custody dispute would have been settled right then. Time to give that girl an empty room with a bed and lots of school supplies, books, etc.

My co-worker was whining about the gal at daycare spanking his daughter.
I stated that if you expect someone else to raise your kids, don't whine when they do their job.
I would be thankful for someone actually demonstrating consequences to my kid!

Damn right! Instead, the school systems put the message in our kid's minds that almost everything is child abuse. Can't even spank a child anymore without the fear of being brought up on charges. Guess that means all of our parents should have been in jail:rolleyes:

No discipline these days... just Ridlan. My dad was the hard azz and administered the discipline for me and my sister. I was known not as the kid that grounded but the kid that got UN-grounded. I'm glad he was that way even though it was tough growing up. God bless ya dad! :D
