chevy power

Looking at purchasing a 1987 Silverado K10. 4" rancho suspension lift. 3" body lift. 36" SuperSwampers TSL's. No rust. Show room truck. What is everybody doing to get more power out of these trucks? Its EFI with 4,000 miles on it since the overhaul. Its been bored .030" over. Thanks for the info ahead of time.

Would help to know what motor is in it... lol. Also helps to know whats been done to the motor other then .030 overbore. What cam, heads, intake, tb, etc etc. Heads, cam and intake/headers etc are always good ways to get power. Stroker kit is another, bigger motor is another. Since its turning heavy tires, re-gearing the diffs is definitly a good way to make better use of the power it already has.

I'm assuming it's a 5.7. If so, a set of Vortec heads with a decent cam makes good power. Edelbrock makes a package to bolt them onto the TBI engines and claims 300 horsepower. If you don't mind wrenching, swapping a gen 3 V8 in wouldn't be a huge ordeal, lots of aftermarket suport for these. A 5.3 would work just fine and a 6.0 would be great. Of course, you could always drop in a big block if you want lots of power.

87..most likely a 305..could be a 350...easiest way to good power?..buy a street blower kit..should pick up a reliable 100 hp..and run on pump premium....
