Check out this scam

I was looking through the sled section on Kijiji

http://edmonton.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehicles-ATVs-snowmobiles-2008-yellow-SKI-DOO-W0QQAdIdZ84027744

With a price like that, which was too good to be true... I responded that I wanted to but it right now.

Here is the reply to my message to him...

Hello,

I have received your email regarding my Ski-Doo.
I will sell it for CA $3,400.00. The price includes shipping and insurance to your address.
The sled comes with copies of the bill of sale, titles and all the accessories.

Email me if you are interested.

Thanks Brian,

I am gonna ask for the VIN and see if he responds...LOL:rolleyes:

I saw the same ad, thought it was a typo though. See if he sends you the VIN....bet you get no reponse! We should try and meet the guy to get a look at the sled and then have a 'warm discussion' about this type of thing. What a freak'n jerk-off. That stuff burns by a$$

It says
I PERSONALY GAURANTEE THE NEW OWNER OF THIS SLED WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED WHEN THEY COME TO PICK IT UP.

Ask him where you can come deliver the cash and pick it up. Then Lead pipe the douche. lol

I like the email response "Delivery with insurance to your door".

Can we all email him ? hehe

Somebody PLEASE offer to "come pick it up". I'll bet he wants the $$ sent first.

If it DOES exist, and he IS selling it, it's hotter than a $2 pistol.

those Kijiji scams kill me. I responded to a turbo'd apex for $4500 just to bust the guys balls, and he informed me that I couldnt come see the sled because it was in whitehorse. Then I told him, what a coincidence I have a friend there so he can look at it, but then buddy was out of the country so noone could get access to it...
You would have to be a complete moron without a thread of common sense to fall for one of those scams...

Oh well Im sure lots of people fall for it though...

I came across a deal like this over in Europe a couple of years ago. Said he would ship brand new RMK800s for like 3000 a piece. He had a great story as to why they were so cheap too. We had emailed back and forth a few times and he would always get back really quick. Everything seemed legit other than it was a little too good to be true. And he wanted a wire transfer. So I email him and tell him that my uncle lives in the same city as him, and as it happens......in the same part of town! (I was lying) So I asked if my uncle could deliver cash in person and pick up the sleds.

I didnt hear back from him.

I am gonna keep playing along....

Guess what? He said the sled is in Whitehorse.. HAHAAHAH!!!!

Here is my latest e-mail:

The sled is in Whitehorse, YT. The VIN number is: 2BPSBB8A58V000239

I want to finish this deal through eBay International Trading. They will hold your payment and release it to me only after you will receive, inspect and agree with the sled. I will give you 3 inspection days.

I will start the shipping in the same day with the payment confirmation.
The delivery process to your location will take 5-6 days.

Tell me if we can get the ball rolling and I will contact eBay regarding our transaction. after that they will send you the information of the purchasing.

Thanks

E-bay international Trading?? HMMMMMM.....

Dang, I was going to toss my hook into the lake and see if I could get the fishy to bite but the ad was pulled.
Ebay International Trading... WTF? Couldn't he come up with something that sounds more legit?

Hey Cuso, I got a better deal for you...send me $3400 and when we see you in Revy in 4 weeks I'll kick you in the junk...at least then you'll get something for your money!! :D

Just curious, what is Kijiji? Similar to Craigslist?

LMAO now that is funny!

People do fall for those, scarily enough. A friend (really, he's a good guy....) was looking for a car for his daughter; came across a somethingoriother - forget, let's say, 04 F150 for $2200 or something - WAY too good to be true.

He forwarded me the ad, I looked at it, yeah, if it seems too good to be true, scams, etc, told him it was a scam.

He read the big warning at the top of the Craigslist ad about "send me the money and I'll ship you the product" scams, but the ad lured him in - he sent the guy an email, guy responded, he's in the UK for some emergency and the car is in (somewhere else) at an international shipping depot and blah blah blah.

"But, he sent me a VIN!" says my friend, who REALLY wanted to believe.

I walked over to his car, wrote down the VIN, gave it to him - hey, I'm selling a Mazda Tribute for $500, here's the VIN.

He got the point, but yeah, I'd bet he would have sent the money if I'd not smacked him around a bit.

"The guy SOUNDS credible" says he - of COURSE he does, knucklehead, if he SOUNDED like a criminal, he'd not be a very good one, eh?

The friend in question wound up buying her a nice car, good price, all of that - and I was a bit surprised at how long he held onto that one - it, like the Whitehorse Recreational Vehicle Outpost (now with Free Shipping!!!), just reeked of "scam."

No matter how I tried to rationalize it for him, he still wanted to believe. "If you just needed to DUMP the Mazda - get rid of it, what would you list it for?"

"$6k" was his response. "It is worth $7500, but it'd probably sell fast at $6k."

Right, so....why would this guy be listing a car for $3400 that is worth $10k+? Why on -earth- would he do that? He could list it for $8k and probably unload it in a day - he's just throwing away $4600. Not many people, no matter how wealthy, throw away that kind of money.

"but he seems nice....."

aargh! heh. He really is a good guy, but yeah, those ads suck people in.....
