Check engine light memory

Is there a memory on the check engine light? Mine was flashing when I was almost home last night but I wanted to get it in the yard before I stopped to count the flashes. When I got to the open field at the house and pinned it the light stopped flashing. I was wondering if I can go to the CAT dealer to get it checked to see what was malfunctioning.

I don't know about the computer having a memory or not, but it sounds to me like your warning light might have been flashing cuz the coolant was getting a little bit warm. They tend to get a little warm when your cruise in the midrange without getting on and off the throttle. Probably circulated enough coolant when you floored it to get it cooled back down.

I thought that too at first. Would the check engine light flash or the temp light?
