Light came on today, no idea why. Any thoughts on where to begin looking and how do I clear. Thanks

when my 11 did this, the tech at my dealer, guys outdoor lewiston id, brought a laptop to my sled in the parking lot, read that it was a detonation code, cleared it, said they r very sensitive to any detonation, run it and see if it returns. No charge. It didnt happen again.

With the sled running, hold in the brake and hit set/select until a code screen appears. There will be a set of larger numbers, and then a small number down in the lower rh corner. These reference to fault codes in your manual.

I had the same code last year 173-3 replaced the exhaust temp probe and good to go. After you install the probe and start the machine it may take several minutes for the check engine light to go out but it will, no need to get anything reset by the dealer.

I believe that this is the same on the "12 and '13 as well, but may be a slightly different procedure to get the code to show up on the screen.

Exactly! Same happened to me.

I got the same story on the '12 I just picked up. 173-3
Temp probe. Thanks for the info on how to check.
Saved me $100 to diag it.

I got the same code whats the deal what is making them go out . Have you guys that had this problem had the exhaust off , did you put sealent on the threads when you reinstalled , has somthing rubbed against it, are you running extra oil in the tank, how many miles or hrs do you have on your sleds ?
I ran 12 oz of extra oil in tank for break in, used a hi temp sealent on the threads and attached my vent hose to it to dump the oil in the nose area.
My buddy told me yesterday not to us a sealer on it I have always used a silicone sealer on it the same one I use to seal my exhaust .
Do dealers have them in stock or is it a orded item ?
