Changing out secondary rollers

Looking to change out the rollers on my secondary on a 2009 M8. Does it matter which way you pound the pin out that holds the roller? What have you guys been using to pound the pin out? Can you re-use the pin again?

If i remember correctly it was easier to pound it away from the helix i just bent a small screw driver and used a hammer. i was able to re use the pins. the first one you do will be the toughest, but its pretty easy. Hope that helps.:beer;

I went to Napa and picked up an 1/8 inch roll pin punch but cant remember which direction. I reused the pins as i didnt punch all the way out. Another good tip i read off here was to use a drill bit the same size as the pin that holds the rollers and use it to remove the burr to slide it out easier.

it dont matter how the pin roller comes out for the center pin that holds the roller itself is a mother trucker, you must punch it form the inside out.....i used an assortment of home made tools, bent punch(s), bent screwdivers, bent nails of different lengths.....its still a PITA:beer;

I used a drill bit and hammer to pop the pins out and i think i pushed them out from the face, the actual roller pin i just used a allan wrench and pushed them out from the center, i used the short end with a screw driver for leverage if that makes sence to ya, Good luck the pins push out easy give the roller pins a little shot of wd 40 when you put them back in don't use much though.

Exactly what I did! Tried a couple of things that didn't work very well before that. A 3/16" pin punch works well for the roll pins.

Like others have said drive the roll pin out from the clutch face side (side that contacts the belt) with the correct roll pin size. Then use a set of allen wrenches (short side) to move the pin holding the roller out from the inside. As you get it farther out use a screw driver under the allen wrench to pry the pin out followed by grabbing the pin with a good pair of pliers to complete removale. Also use heat to remove the allen headed bolts, if you can spread the sheaves and applie heat to helix where bolts set. Mine (09) had about a quart of blue locktite on each bolt:confused:anyway after removal you can compress the clutch back together and use the reverse notch to hold it while you reinstall bolts, just be carefull as it has alot of force that can unleash itself on you untill the bolts are installed....G

I would definaintly build a compression tool if you don't have one otherwise be carefull taking apart and you will have a hard time getting it back together withought it, they are very cheap to make.
