Changing helix on xp

i would love to know as well, i have the cam and spring removed, now how the hell do you remove the outer half, used heat and bars with no luck

helix can be changed without pulling the shaft..you have to heat the end of the 4 bolts a little and its tight but we just did one without pulling the shaft..about 30-40 min. job..you will need the tool and a torex 90 degree allen wrench

we used the one with the long tube that slides over the bolt ..NOT the one with the curved rod welded on the nut..both probably work ok

Personally ,after having done this, I would remove the secondary the first time you do it. Makes it A LOT easier to get the torex bolts off the back of the secondary without stripping them. Once they are out replace them with hex head bolts. The Dalton tool is what I used and works very well. This is the tool pictured in the post above by skidoopid.

Dalton makes a tool that goes were the belt adjuster is so you can remove and replace the Helix without taking out the Jackshaft.

Scroll to the bottom of the page to see the tool and price.

Actually I am incorrect on the tool from Dalton it only compresses the Helix for removal after taking out the Jackshaft.

You can get a better tool from Goodwin Performance that says you can change Helix and Spring in the QRS clutch without taking it off.

Do you take the secondary off the shaft? Or can you get to the torque bolts that hold the helix with the shaft in when it's on the bench?
