Avalanche conditions will be changing rapidly over the weekend. Please check our website for updated info and remember we issue three sled specific forecasts- Western Uintas, Manti-Skyline and Logan. Go to www.utahavalanchecenter.org for more info.

Also, I'll be giving a free sled avalanche awareness presentation on Tuesday, Nov. 23rd from 6:00-9:00 PM at Smith and Edwards- 3936 North hwy 126 Ogden (Far West). Feel free to give me a shout at craig@utahavalanchecenter.org if you have any questions.

Cheers.
Craig

I can attend and drag some friends with, can never have enough FREE education and knowledge.

Will you be going over avy beacons? I'd like to see how others use them to try to improve on how I do, or see if I'm even doing it right.:face-icon-small-con

Good call. Everybody should do a couple practice drills a week and time themselves doing them. Change up the scenerio each time, do a double burial, etc, etc. Great idea to do in the parking lot before a ride or after a ride. Have one of your riding buddies bury it in a snowbank or in a field or on a hillside and then he can tell you the last point the victim was seen and have at it. May also be a good idea to occasionally stick a glove out of the snow just above the beacon to train people to look visually for clues or evidence of where the victim might be. A lot of times a boot or glove or some part of the victim may be above ground, but we are so focused on our beacon and following the signal we fail to see their hand sticking out of the snow.

I was going to but after being in the basement and a friend calling me saying "Look outside" I have a blizzard where I can not see 10 feet from my deck.
To all that go learn a lot and drive safe.

Due to the storm and not wanting to get peeps out driving when they don't have to, we've decided to bump the class to Wednesday Dec. 8th. at 6:00
Sorry for any inconvenience.
Cheers.

That's Great news. I could't make it tonight but I should be able to on the 8th.

Same Place/Same time?
