Changed Fuel Pump Now What???

I changed the fuel pump and pulled for about 35 min. I used starting fluid to try to start it to power the fuel pumps ect. Couldn't get anything to work. Stock fuel pump is not pumping...What next?

Is there a way to prime the stock pump? Or do you just pull and pull and pull till the cows come home?

Any help would be nice.

Thanks in advance

Is there power going to the fuel pump. I think you can jump the pump with a 9 volt battery. If it is and no fuel, the smart valves may not be working or there is water in the tank and the are working and not letting any through. You could take off the fuel line from the rail and hold it up High then poor some gas down it to prime the pump.

If you hook up a 12 volt battery with some clip leads from a cordless drill does it pump?

Where would you hook power to? Clip the lines and splice? Or make a connector to hook to the battery?

Is there away to pump fuel back into the back into the stock pump to put fuel into it?

Could I fill the line that hooks to the primary with fuel and start pumping with the secondary pump?

BTW, the old pump worked, it just didn't pump enough fuel pressure. So I put whole other unit into it that did work. It has all the smart valves attached(complete unit out of another tank).

When I am working on my fueling system, if i need to run the fuel pump I have a jumper made up to tie into the fuel pump harness. I then hook it up to my 12v battery charger on a low charge and it runs the pump up. I can easily start the machine and test for fuel pressure simulating full voltage.

simple thing , but make sure the polarity of the pumps wiring is correct. also some of the larger pumps will draw too much power and the stock pump wiring will not give enough power to run the pump. you may have to rewire the pump to get power from the lighting coil.

you should be able to just take the pump wires apart and use some wire pieces and hold them to the leads. First thing I would do is hold a test like or volt gauge to the wires and have someone pull it over and check for power. If you have power hold the neg side to the neg wire and pos to pos wire and check for a good ground.
