Challenger Lite

INPUT REQUESTED: I am looking for a shorter track for my RT 162 powdermax, and have a guy interested to trade. I want some input regarding any possible benefit from the challenger lite track vs the powdermax. In Alaska its rare to see any "dry fluff" like the rockies get, and surprisingly finger tracks work well here most of the time. I hear the "lite" is stiff, but it just looks like a "slippery" track to me. Has anybody put screws in one?

Thanks for any input......:face-icon-small-coo

I Wouldn't

I purchased an 07 800 X with the challenger lite. Couldn't wait to get rid of it. Was completely happy it was gone. The track trenched in the fluff and I believe it caused belts to heat. Thanks for asking.

They actually migth be pretty good in the set-up alaska snow! Find an Attack 20, spin her backwards, and you will probably have the best set-up snow track ever! Seriously, they are wicked in the hard stuff!

challenger lite

the challenger lite is an awesome track, because after a few rides the paddles start breaking off and your sled gets lighter and lighter. skidoo seems to think it's supposed to doo that, and they will not replace it. good luck.

I wouldn't do the challenger lite either. Just falls apart, sucks in the soft snow, and trenches no matter what. Powdermax is 100 times better of a track. Running both side by side there is no question, powdermax.

From what I have seen the "Lite" works really good in "set-up" (denser) snow. Trenching was problem is the light fluff.

I run the powdermaxx because where I ride the snow is usually light and fluffy.

As far as durability of the "Lite" -> seam to remember reading some sort of propaganda that track construction was changed for '08 - something about more flexible paddles ?

I wouldn't put a a20 on my sled if you paid me, get a challenger extreme and cut the tips down 1/4". Track is super hard at that point and still moves real estate like crazy. May not be the best when you have 8' of snow dust, but it hooks so good on set up snow I've had to tighten it every ride. build a template and use a sharp exacto knife, it takes all of 20 minutes to do. Track works very comparable to the old polaris competition hillclimb track.
