Chalk Creek #1 - 15" plus fresh snow!

Looks like Chalk Creek was hit hard and is still being hit! 15" of fresh powder since yesterday and still snowing up there!!

Anybody been up to see for yourself?

We were up Mirror Lake hwy Saturday but decided not ot go out to chalk creek because the turn off to get there was a little thin for snow.

I would sure appreciate some first hand information, might go up Friday if it sounds good.

Thanks

yea trial lake showed 10"... i suspect by the time these storms are done snow totals will be over 2'... powder on memorial weekend! Man i love utah!!!

Damn.
I sold my sleds before moving out here thinking I wouldn't have the itch to ride until the winter. Now I hear people talking about riding on Memorial Day and it's killing me.
And I live about 10 miles from some good riding too!

Who wants to lend me / let me rent a sled for the weekend???
I'm about to go buy the 96 polaris ultra my neighbor is selling for $400 just so I won't be disappointed in not being able to ride in late May....

I guess there's always next year...

dang. where is chalk creek how far is it from logan? tonys only shows 4 inches new

There are a few ways to get to Chalk Creek but we usually go out of Bear River Lodge, right now you can take the Mirror lake Hwy up from Evanston Wy. And drive all the way to the Whitney turn off and unload there.

Probably a lot of other places along the Mirror Lake Hwy got hit hard as well.

Would sure like to hear from someone that went up today.

If I show up with a 79 Polaris TX 440 will anyone ride with me?
I don't know how the free air cooling will work this time of year.... hmm..

I was hoping someone would post a report of fresh pow. Headed out today after work. Going to be riding Millpeak-Forest lake-Snake creek all weekend!

17"-20" up at Alta!!!

Sorry guys, I didn't catch your threads till today. I went up mirror lake yesterday after work for a couple of hours (yesterday was the 23rd). Went up mirror lake from the kamas, utah side. Was able to drive a long way up, clear past the parking lot. We parked and unloaded at the turnout just before the first bridge that looks like it crosses the top end of a small reservoir? Not too familiar with the mirror lake highway land marks. From the turnout, unloaded and rode all the way to the summit, mostly played on top of the summit from around 4 to 7 where the mirror lake highway start doing some switchbacks on the utah side. The snow was fairly heavy, you could tell there was a lot of moisture. It is was off and on snowing and shunshine the whole time up there. For snow depth it has compacted down to about a range of 5 to 10 inches of new. It probably got a lot of snow but it has compacted into the packing snow. The kind of snow that when you grab a handful and squeeze it is hard as a rock.

Despite fairly wet snow, had a blast. It was just fun to go up and mess around for a while and have some powder again...well untracked snow.

If any questions, post, pm, email or call, 208.520.0640.

Sparticase, thanks for the update. How much total snow would you guess was up there? If that area had good coverage overall then that would mean there is still plenty of snow. Lots of good size rocks etc. to cover up toward the top of the pass...

I'd agree with the reading that was taken at 6 feet. Of course some areas seemed a bit thinner and other areas seemed really deep. Once we got over the summit and dropped down the east, northeast side it could be deeper in some spots.

Hey phatty, did you get up mirror lake today?

rode with phatty today, we went up around Watson, visibility sucked, he got us lost, if it wasn't for rubyredvets mad gps skillz we would still be up there, and phatty would have been the first to get eatin for getting us lost :D

we had a great day! saw a huge *** tree that got struck by lightning and blown out of the ground, it was still smoldering...

Those ladies that got lost up there a couple years ago knew exactly where they where to, they just never found the way out....

I had all the maps we needed :D as long as you didn't go 1/2 mile to the east....

I got all the maps, I''ll hook ya up, probably be a good idea to put them all on mine to, especially if I ride with you. lol! :face-icon-small-win
