Chaincase tensioner question

I changed gears in my 08 D7. Took the tensioner slide out without noticing the little ridge on the face that the chain slides on. Don't know which way to put it back in now. Ridge to the backside or ridge to the cover side?
Thanks

CHAIN TENSIONER

The face of that tension-er is smooth (no ridge) when new. The ridge is the wear caused by the chain.

Try it both ways and see which way lines up.

Or after you get tired of all that plastic wearing down and mixing with your chain case lube and turning it into sludge, you can replace that wear type block tension-er with a roller style tension-er from a 2005/2006 Fusion. POLARIS PART # 1341437

Hope this helps
