chaincase question

just purchased a 2010 800R renegade backcountry... the chaincase has a white residue in it...I rubbed it with my fingers and it comes off on my finger..anyone know what this is????

Sounds like corrosion....white powdery stuff. Many get a little water past the seal. If its white stuff in the oil, that is from water too.

yes white powdery , guess it could be corrosion.. funny its only in the center portion like where the chain and gears would be...
