A couple of guys have asked me for chaincase protectors since I posted those pics so I made up a small batch. I welded up 6 today, 1 is sold already. I have not polished these ones and would rather not as I hate doing that job. LOL. I will include the necessary stainless bolts. The guard in the pics has a rubber liner that I made but I don't have any more of that material and I don't even know where it came from so I'm going to try and find a substitute. I made the protectors based on my chaincase which I assume is typical but when you look at the chaincase cover there are some waves probably from the welding which may make each cover very slightly different. What I'm saying here is that there may be some small spaces between the guard and the chaincase cover. The guards are made out of 3/16" 5052 T6. Each guard weighs exactly 0.52 lb so IMO there is no real benefit to using any lighter material.
I kept track of my time, materials and supplies and to make it even close to worth while I need to get $58 including shipping anywhere in the western US or Canada. I will post up some pics of the new guards tommorow when they are totally done.
If you are interested in a protector shoot me a PM first come first served.
Thx M5
