Chaincase Breakage...?

im not sure if this has been gone over before or not but, how many of you guys have had problems wrecking the chaincase on the boosted sleds? is there a limit to how much power they will take? or does it not really matter... i havent really seen to many with reverse thats all... thanks

My Tapex has 2500 kms half with reverse. No problems. I haven't seen a chaincase blow unless it was low on oil. I don't think mountain sleds build as much heat as lake racers.

I trashed a case and gears last February. Case was properly filled and chain was properly adjusted. My Tapex is the only one I have seen to date that has had this problem. I don't blame anyone for the failure. $hit happens from time to time no matter how well you maintain your stuff.

To my knowledge this has not been a problem with the Apexes.

I had a 2007 TApex with 1500 miles on it that the chaincase went out, the bottom bolt snapped, which is not an un-common thing. Everything was properly aligned, adjusted and lubed, shi- happens...

i replace mine halfway through the season. why not, whats a hundred bucks and 20 minits worth of work. could save u a real big headache!!

I never run a chain past 1500km boosted or not, Had 700k on my nytro, pulled apart chaincase and found that bottom gear bolt broken also. Haven't looked at it since, find out when I change the skid/track.

got 1800kms on mine....the bolt also broke at about 1000kms....it was broke for a while. Got a grade 8 metric and put it in but havent been into the case since. I guess I should replace the chain....dont forget guys the chaincase is the bulkhead also...be a bit spendy plus a ton of hours in the garage if she blows up....how much you US guys pay for a yamaha chain??

Since we are talking about the chaincase, I have a question.

Mine has been rolled down 2" and back 2.+", making the dip stick extremely low and under the chaincase. I was told the vent is through the dip stick. And when I pulled a big long pull, it would vent some oil from the case and into the body panels next to the turbo. Is this normal or is there a fix??

Mine broke once last year and went out the bottom of the chain case.

My buddies broke twice once it broke the chain case and once it got hung up somehow and did not fall to the bottom of the case, so we were blessed that time to only have to replace the chain.

Broken chain at 1800 miles (1650 on boost). Junked the whole case and cover. The sled has reverse and a challenger extreme 2.5 track. I'm really surprised it lasted as long as it did.

2200miles boosted all the way haven't touched a thing...just pulled the chain case apart and things still look new.....but I will put a new chain on.....
