Chain tensioner set up

I just replaced my jack shaft on my 2014 m8000. Putting back to get her and on the tensioner time of the game and I m uncertain of how to put in in. Do I set it with proper tension and then it will take over from there or do you put it in loosely ( which does not seem right ) and let it tighten up some how on its own. I have it right now with about 3/8 of a inch of play on the non tensioner side is that to tight to start with? Thanks for your help in advance

That tensioner arm came with the roller on it? I did a manual tensioner from One stop performance works awesome!!!
As for the auto tensioner, if your going to leave it w some slack like that make sure your track is off the ground and spin the track and clamp the break a few times so it adjust before there is a lot of pressure on the track
