I noticed after my ride recently that my chain case tension bolt came completly out and i lost all of my oil. Now iam not sure how much the bolt needs to be tighten down for the tension:confused. Also i think i only rode it about 6miles with the bolt out. Do i need to replace the chain? What should i be checking for when i take the chain case cover off? any help would be great.
Thanks
Wes

you have a spring that will hold some tension on the chain even without the adjustment bolt.

I would get a new bolt and turn it in by hand until it is tight. Then back it off about a 1/4 turn then lock it down.

Personally I would pull the cover and look things over. Put the new tension bolt in, tighten it up until the slack side is snug (little movement). Then put the cover back on, fill with oil and run it.

But it might be worth your time to look inside to make sure the spring tension system didn't get messed up with the loose chain slopping around.

I think what he said would be a very good idea, It is your last link between the track and engine. Easy to do and a good piece of mind! Just check out the chain for broken links all the way thru! No broken links and no ground metal bits in the bottom, Just clean, Tension and refill.
