Chain Case Oil

What do you guys feel works best. A clean full synthetic oil or a oil that has graphite in it like a Klotz KL50?

Thinking of trying a Torco Synthetic snowmobile chain case oil.

Just running the poo full synth, like how easy it flows cold. I do use a hand suction pump to fill. Takes 10 mins to do it, start to finish.

I do not see a need to run that heavy gear oil because all your really doing is keeping the chain lubed, so instead I run standard hydraulic oil in my chain case.

I'm running 85w90 synthetic gear oil, same oil as the rear diffs in our semis take, have had zero issues, and it happens to be the same weight oil Polaris bottles up and sells, according to the Polaris service Manual.

Synthetic ATF

Used to use 75w90 full synth gear oil. Also have used 5w30 full synthetic motor oil because it is thinner. Seen a lot of guys on here using full synth ATF (dexron IIRC), that is what I am running now. I was thinking that the 75w90 gear oil, even the full synth, was so thick it would not get into or stay in the inner wear areas of the links very well, especially in cold conditions, plus a thicker oil like that might rob a little HP just to churn it. Always looking for HP. :-) It seems to me the Poo chaincase oil was a lot thinner than 75w90, though maybe they have changed it, haven't bought any for a long time. If the sled were under warranty I would put in the Poo stuff. I believe that is the last time I used it, when my 99 RMK was under warranty... been a while.

AMSOIL chaincase oil

AMSOIL chaincase oil is a great product. I have used it for years and it works great in all conditions. Price is not bad either.

For something that is only changed once a year and requires a small amount of fluid, why not go for AMS or some other quality oil? The only problem with AMSoil is that the shipping is pricey. So I make an order for my Duramax, dirt bike and wife's car too.

Red line shockproof lightweight gear oil. Good stuff !

Anything "works" but that the stuff right there^^^^ snowcrossers supposedly filter it and reuse it several times.
Well that or a belt drive are your best bet
