Does anyone have a remedy for a stripped drain plug on an 06 900 chain case?

Thinking about tapping it out to 3/8" NPT. And putting a pipe plug in it??!!??

Tapped it to 3/8" npt. wrapped a pipe plug in Teflon tape and ran her in the hole. seems like all went well , I think the plug is going to be permanent. I'll just have to use a suction gun or pop the cover and let the oil run out of the belly pan, when I change gears or oil.

Thats how its done right there ^^^^ should be able to use plug if threads are not overtorqued. when it causes a problem, JB Weld it in permanent.

That'll get you through the season. Don't throw away the old drain plug; in the off season, you can tap it and put a steel thread insert (with same size thread) in and it will be better than new.

Ran my '06 exactly the same way for the last four seasons I had it. 3/8" NPT plug and just took the cover off to drain the oil. No issues in over 3000 miles.

Done fishing. Let's go sledding !!
