Chain adjuster Guide

2009 Dragon 800.
Took chain case off to move driver on shaft. When putting back together I forgot which way the chain tension guide block was on. There is a flange one side of the guide and need to know if it goes on case side of cover side. I would think maybe the flange is prevent chain from rubbing against case.
I looked at service manual and parts diagram it dosn't show the flage.

Thanks,

Jeff R.

Pretty sure you can just tell when you reassembled it from where the chain sits on the guide. I beleive it will only line up properly one way judging by the light marks on the guides surface.

With flange on the case side it looks like it be pushing the chain toward the cover. Try to think of why its there. It must be to keep the chain from rubbing the case or the cover. I see a small nick on the case but no marks on the cover. Maybe its needs to be on the cover side.

I went through this same thing last year on my sled. It turns out the flange you are talking about is just there due to wear. a brand new one is completely flush with no flange at all. honestly i really dont think it makes a difference when going back together.

That makes sense. I will see if i can place it back the way it was by the the way the chain sits in it. If not maybe I should file it flat again.

Thanks

2006 ROLLER TENSION-ER DROPS RIGHT IN

Do yourself a favor and buy the roller tension er from a 2006 POLARIS sled, it fits right in and you won't get any more of that plastic residue from the wear block that turns your chain-case lube into a sludge-like mess.

I think I might do that.
Just replace the the slide tensioner end with the roller tensioner end.

Is it #4? I had to go to 2005. The 2006 has slide not roller.

Jeff

YES, # 4 is it, sorry 'bout the year, thought it was '06.

POLARIS part # 1341437

It's about $ 40.00, and NO other mods req'd, even the same adjuster bolt still works, it's a direct bolt-in!
