Ceramic tile installer experts?

I have a shower that I am doing and I am down to just finishing the floor. It is a shower in new construction on a wood subfloor with a membrane and concrete over that. Problem is the drain is as low as I can adjust it and I need another 3/16" of height. I am using the 2" x 2" small tiles and if I lay another layer on top it is perfect.

Should I:

Lay one layer of tile and go over to get height?

Use a thin set and re-trowel floor raising it a 1/4" (is this to thin? possibly will crack?

Get some type of floor concrete leveler re-trowel and add 1/4" then use thin set?

Also as a side question what is best for shower FLOOR, Ultraflex 3 or Keraldstik

1/4" Cement Board

I am assuming you still need to maintain the slope for your drain, so cement board can be tough to manipulate. I have ran into the same problem before and used a product called Ardex. It is very strong (6000psi) and has very high bonding capacities. It is also easy to adjust it's workability. Did you use a prefab shower pan, or build it yourself? They make some pre-fab cementitious ones now that are money.

I just did a shower. You stated you put the membrane on top of the plywood then added concrete on top of that. If that is correct your might have water problems in the future. You should have put down a angled layer of concrete on the plywood floor first, then the membrane followed by a final angled layer of concrete.

The reason for this is to allow any water that gets through the tile and first layer of concrete to drain properly. If the membrane is just on a level wood floor its just going to sit there. Here are some picture of my floor.

Forgot to ask if you used a adjustable floor drain?

Hmmmmmmmm 3/16" is a lot to have to make up, thin-set can crack out that thick and you wouldn't want to use 1/4" wonder board cause you'd have to have thin-set on both sides and your Height would be too high at that point! I'm also PMing you

I think I would use another layer of sand mix. If thats what you used to begin with. Just get it wet enough to be tacky and start pounding it down. Maybe have to turn the drain up a bit if thats possible.
