ceramic coating vs header wrap??

I currently have header wrap on my setup and it works DARN good at keeping the heat in, the problem I have is that I do need something that keeps the heat to a minimum, but the header wrap seems to just get hot and flake apart over time, also, welds on the pipe seem to just rip it apart. I ahve learned a lot of tricks as I have rewraped it like 3 times now... just still falls apart after around 200 miles or so. i have done a few straight simple sections of pipe and it works great on my downpipe, but on the header it just gets hot and turns to dust and rattles apart on bends and joints. My question is will ceramic coating keep the heat in well enough to not wrap it?? if so I would like to do it as im sick of pissing away $50 bucks on a roll of wrapping every few weeks and cleaning out shreded crap from everywhere under the hood.

Get the fire retartant paint for the header wrap , it makes it last way longer.

I have had mine on My LP turbo setup for over 4 seasons with 6000 + k and will re do it for next season. I might get away wit just redoing the fireproofing .

cheers.............

yeah, I used that stuff after 2 failed wraps.. seems like if ANYTHING touches the wrap it just turns to dust... I dont know.. its pretty gay. I have noticed that its falling apart even on my nicely wrapped 3" downpipe... it seemed to like the larger pipe with almost no bend to it vs the tight small tubes of the header.. but guess not.. WTF!!!????

I have 2 1/2 seasons on a wrapped down pipe. You have to pull it very tight and wrap the sh!t out of it with small wire. LOTS OF WIRE. Make it look like a spidar web

I had these guys "turbine coat" my head pipe, turbine housing, and down pipe for $150 two seasons ago and everything looks good and I know it reduces the heat because I can work in the compartment on the trail as soon as I cut the engine. Not sure how much though because I had it coated before initial install.
