Any of you that have bought a new sled from them either this year or last year, specifically the new 800 sleds, do they do a good job of set-up? Has anyone had any bad engine problems on a 800 they bought from Owens?

I am considering my options for next year and all the threads in the Polaris section about 800 failures have me worried.

Any local 800s having problems?

Thanks for your input!:beer;:beer;

The 700s are more dependable and will rock your 02 800. Better chassie and spot on motor, and cheaper.

I got a 09 D8 163 from them this year, I have 600 pretty hard trouble free miles so far. I haven't even called them or shaded their door. The only thing I've done is install a lot of vents and adjust the belt deflection. Because of the snow conditions I've installed some wheels I had laying around.
My friend also bought one (155) and has had a little bog so he's getting the new map this week.

I don't know about the new sleds but Owens will treat you good. I have purchased used sleds, trailors, 4wheelers. In march of 04 I bought a 2000 summit 700 151 (it's my avatar)it had 1700 mi. The first day I rode it seized a crank bearing, they fixed it for me, I paid for the parts they did the labor. I purchased it as is no warrenty. So I was pleased that they fixed it labor free.
I almost snow checked a 800 dragon but I went with Cat instead and I am very happy with it. I'm still not sure about the 800 Dragon, I like the 600 and 700 though.

In my personal experience with them over the last couple of years they have treated me well, and have given me a price break every once in a while, tho they still have the reputation of being SPENDY.

What I was really hoping to hear is anybody who has bought a new 800 from them and if they did a good job on that sled.

My own 02 800 is a strong azz running sled, but it was already set up that way b4 I got it from a guy out of town, so all they have done for me on this sled was freshening up the clutching with the same parts new and it has absolutely ripped this season. My thoughts are that I ride my sled somewhat agressively and I kinda like the idea of getting a newer chassis that is more rider friendly, and the threads in the Polaris section of everybody's bad experiences has frankly scared the crap out of me as far as considering a new 800 Dragon.

I basically want to hear a bit from the new 08/09 800 owners on their opinions of their sleds from Owens and if they have had any problems like everyone else is talking about.

Everybody's comments are very welcome and highly appreciated, but that is what I was hoping to hear and the reason I initially asked the question.

Thanks guys:beer;

Regardless of who does the initial set up on your sled, it will make your 02 look stupid. The difference between a new sled and one that is 7 years old is huge. the sleds today have come a long ways. Buy the sled from a good local dealer where you will have any work done to it.

Snowchecked an 09 D8, no complaints, however I only have 250 miles on it. They switched out the factory weights on the clutch for our lower elevation. I added the air vents in the shock tower and knee area. Will probably be adding a bogey wheel set also, seem to be having excessive hifax wear, even with the ice sratchers. They set up the track tension according to factory specs which, in my opinion, is too tight. I have always had the track as loose as can be with out it ratcheting. In the past they have always treated my well, I price check occassionally to keep them honest and they always matched. They also treated me very well on my '03 800 RMK, even though I didn't buy it from them (ProCaliber in Vancouver).

If I didn't purchase the D8 would be in Ellensburg looking at their 09 800 Ski-Doos. Heard a rumor they are trying to dump them for $8500.

I will have to go investigate tomorrow, not like i could afford one but its fun to look.

I haven't rode the Dragon yet, but I rode SummitRMK's Cat. They're right when they say it will make your '02 look stupid. It's an unreal difference. Almost thinking of switching brands.

As far as Owen's being spendy, isn't every dealership spendy, showing everything on the floor at retail list, only giving a price break if your friends with 'em or go in every week to buy something????

The guys at Owens are good guys to deal with, its nice to be able to deal locally. I bought my 03 edge brand new from them and just bought my 09 d8 from them this year. As far as setup they do not have any special setups as far as clutching, just the polaris recomendations for altitude. I have not ever had any issues with assembly. They are always willing to work with you if you are having any problems, if you are looking at getting one go talk to Mark Stadel, he will treat you right.

I have known Mark Stadel for years now and bought my 08 600 from him. Josh in parts is great peeps too. The will treat you right.

Tell Mark Robert said hi.

Thanks for the replies guys, glad to hear that they seem to be ok by others, as they have been by me:D

Just had em do some work on my sled and they did a good job and gave me a deal too, another good experience to share:D

Terry has always done me good in the parts department also, been quite helpful at times:D

as far as set up, they go by factory spec. If you want something different (better), talk to Josh. He is a great tuner and can suggest weights, springs, gears etc. for this elevation and conditions. They have always treated me right, but I have bought 4 sleds , two Harley's and a Suzuki from them (they like me :D) I do have an 08 D8, but it was set up at Carl's and runs great with no issues (even with nitrous)
