Has any one put the CE track with 3" lugs on there pro with just putting on 7 tooth drivers? I know avid has a chain case for this but was curious if anyone has tried it with just putting on smaller drivers. If so, curious how it worked, if it just didnt fit or if it rubbed a lot or just didn't have enough clearance. Please let me know if youve done this or have had a buddy do it. Thanks

Nope wont work! the track will rub the chaincase with 7 tooth drivers . There are a couple places that you can send it for modification. or I think the Avid billet chaincase will work.

Just asking: I've been told haven't looked my self, that the 2013's will take the 7 tooth with no mods. True or False?? Also if so is there any chance the 3" will fit with the 7 tooth drivers??

I guess the 13 pro will accept the 3" with 7tooth drivers without any other mods since there is no chaincase sticking out on the inside of the tunnell.

Yes, a 3" track will fit with 7T drivers on a 2013 without any modifications. On a 11-12 will need the chaincase modified to prevent the track rubbing on it.

OK thanks. So next ? With the 3" track and a few lbs of boost will the stock suspension on a 163 handle the sled or are we front end in the air 4 ft all the time were on boost??

That depends on how much boost and what elevation. The stock suspension handles stock power very well. By stock power I mean anything you can do with pump gas as that just makes it the same power as riding sea level. There is always a control benefit to a coupled skid and there are many threads on if you "need" one or not and which is the best one out there. I'd say ride it first and see what happens. Then ride any and all choices your looking into and go from there.

So, you're saying that with this mod that I've already done, and 7 tooth drivers I don't need to do a drop and roll to clear the 3"?

Yes, the rumor on the street is a 3" ce track will fit with 7T drivers and the chaincase mod. There are debates on "windage" issues, but IMO the clearance will fill up with snow and ice buildup creating the same amount of clearance. Skidoo xp guys have reported success with running this combo with a 3" track and 7t drivers with the stock chaincase. There's a thread somewhere talking about this...

So why did have to alter the chaincase if the track cleared under neath? What did you need to change on the chaincase? How much clearance do you have on a 2013 pro with 7 tooth drivers. Does it rub the cooler?

i don't think that anyone has actually done it on a '13 since they haven't had them yet. On the earlier ones, the smaller 7 tooth drivers bring the track down into the chain case unless you machine it for additional coverage.

I talked with Robbie at Avid and he says the new 3" track will fit safely with the 7 tooth drivers. Mountain Magic in Edmonton has apparently already installed this setup in a 2013 as well. I am going to try it out this year on my new sled and have all the parts on the way.

Jason Who did that mod for you? I am looking to put a 3" on mine this yr and wouldn't mind saving a grand as well...Also how do I get in touch with you for pricing regarding 114 octane...Thanks buddy

If you've got a band saw and someone who can weld aluminum, the mod is cheap. As far as fuel goes, I'm not around as much as I use to be so I've kind of phased out of selling for the time being. I was trying to give people a good deal, but after taxes, I wasn't making a penny.

Whittaker. I have the chaincase mod done 7 tooth and a peak 2.5. Id say i only have 1/2" clearance left so the 3" will be very close.

For those interested as I've been thinking the same it should work np based on people running the 2-1/2 CE with stock drivers. So according to the the following going to a 7T driver 3 pitch will give you 0.299" more clearance in the tunnel for a 3" CE.

2.86" pitch
8 tooth = 7.283"
7 tooth = 6.373"

3.00" pitch
8 tooth = 7.639"
7 tooth = 6.685"

The stock Pro 163 track weighs 52 lbs and measures 66mm (2.6") overall height.

The new Camo Extreme 3" x 162 x 15 (9220) weighs 59 lbs and measures 81mm (3.2") overall height.
