CE 3" Too much track for a 860??

I have a 3" CE 162 track sitting around from my project sled last year, its going to either go on my back up sled (2009 Twisted Turbo M1000) or my new 2013 Pro with a RKT 860 kit. Id like to run it on the Poo but Im worried that it may be too much track for the HP.

Anyone out there running the 3" on a non turboed 800.

Ran one all last season and it is an awesome improvement. The machine has no problem spinning the track. You will lose some track speed, but it makes up for it in traction. Love it!

Ran one on a stock pro. Only lost about 3-4 Mph track speed on average compared to ones with stock track. But gets around twice as good

I ran a 174 x 3 on my 2012 stocker for 2 weeks before turbo and it was fine.
Did slow down track speed but more then made up for it in flotation and DEEP snow traction.
858 RTK kit will be an added benefit on your sled. IMHO

the only person who would say they didnt like a 3" is someone who didnt have one. I ran a 162 3" on my 12 pro with an avid extended chaincase, recommended, and i am switching to a 174 3" this year. stock sled

I guess the next question is what do you think of just using a 7 tooth driver or is a drop and roll really necessary.

I ran a 3" on my turboed proclimb last year with stock drivers, so there was very little clearance there, it seemed to work alright but due to all the other issues I had with the sled I didnt get very many miles of testing on it.

Just how tight is the clearance on the Poos with 7tooth drivers.

I like the idea of extended chaincase, or belt drive, for the bigger drivers. 2 guys i ride with put 3" tracks on their 13 pros with just changing the drivers. They did need anti stab kits, and have to cut the front of their rails. They rode theirs a couple of weeks ago with no issues. Not sure on clearance though

The 3" is a no brainer! Definitely go with a drop and roll. The 7t drivers do let the 3" fit but with Avid's extended belt/chaincase it moves the drive shaft down and back 1" allowing you to use 8t drivers, the ability to move more snow through the front of the tunnel with less friction and a lot better approach angle. Oh yeah and it looks cool!:face-icon-small-coo

you need to trim the rails because the antratchets on the drivers are inline with the rails. i guess eventually they would wear to fit:face-icon-small-hap you just might not have any anti ratchets left

I do like the D&R but that going to be another $1800 for the chain case and a new c3 belt drive. It will modify the sled to the point were Polaris could deny warranty on pretty much anything they want to chassis related. So theres some pretty big trade offs if just a 7 tooth will get it done with minimal down side.

pretty sure Avid is going to be selling extended belt drives REAL soon. I guess if you folded your tunnel in half, Polaris might be able to deny a claim, but if that happens, pretty sure insurance is going to be kicking in

Sometimes I am truly amazed at the length a company will go to try and deny a warranty claim. You can bet you last dollar they would not warranty a driver claim if they knew you dropped and rolled it.
