here is the deal
my work phone is a pretty basic phone with a very high plan, lots of minutes , long distance included, evenings and weekends, voicemail, and some other goodies

NO DATA plan

our company wont let us switch to PDA phones so I am working the palm pilot as well as the cell. Pain in the azz

my plan is 250 per month,

is there a way to take a new phone ( PDA )and somehow program it so my existing work number can route through the phone with the current plan , so I can ditch the palm pilot?

cant get telus to do it as they wont make any changes without permission from our admin girl.

need to do it "off the record"

The ESN in teh new phone has to be in the telco database. Usually any carrier's dealer can make that switch, it's rather trivial. New phone will have to be programmed with the number and other carrier-related information....

..... however, with what you have right now... is your phone and palm both equipped with bluetooth? Sync the two and you can dial numbers on the phone right off the palm... can also use a prepaid dialup account to access the internets, set up the dialup account on the palm and dial through the "bluetooth modem" (aka cellphone).
