Citizens for Balanced Use will have a booth set up at the three day move in festival at Montana State. We will be setup from 10-3 August 26-28 (Wednesday, Thursday and Friday) If you are in the area stop in and say hi. We will have a 50cc. Honda Mini Bike and generator courtesy of Power Play Motorsports, various Avalanche Gear and a 2009 Polaris Dragon w/ a Boondocker Turbo provided by Justin at Code Red Motorsports!

We will have bumper stickers, and other wilderness education materials and petitions. Stop in and sign the petition and check out the videos, sled, bikes and other stuff we have going on. CBU is playing a major role in fighting the closures and the 1 million acre wilderness proposal by Senator Tester.

Here is more info on the event taken from the MSU website.

Catapalooza is a three day festival that welcomes new and returning students to MSU. Catapalooza corresponds with final summer orientation and move-in day. Over 2000 first year students, returning students, and parents will be at MSU getting prepared for the new school year.

Groups and businesses from campus and the community can register for a booth space until Friday August 14, 2009. This is an excellent way to showcase your services, products, and student organization to our newest Bobcats!

This year's festival will include live music and entertainment, free food, giveaways, prizes, and other activities.

F.T.G. Go CATS!

I'll be looking for ya Hoe

We are out here, it's hot but there has been a great turnout so far! We have gotten a couple pages of the petition signed and signed up a few folks up for the CBU news letter. We've only been yelled at by one wilderness advocate so far!!!! Good times!

what time you done up on friday? im coming into town later afternoon, so I would like to drop by, and definately throw down a signature, and take a peek at justins sled!

We will be done at 3 on Friday, the sled will be loaded up sometime shortly after that. I'll be popping in and out all day but there will be a couple other folks hanging out and answering questions all afternoon.

leave early?

Did you guys leave early on Friday? My buddy and I stopped by around 1 and couldn't find your booth. Oh well, the scenery was pretty decent. Made me feel a little old and guilty though.

Yeah, we had to bail on Friday, we had been trying to get people to help out but there were 4 of us that were trying to cover all three days. I had to do orientation for the incoming freshman, one helpers parents came in town and we just couldn't figure out how to get the booth covered all day so we had to bail. We had a great turnout and actually got more support than expected. We got several pages of the petition against Testor's new wilderness bill signed, and signed a few folks up for CBU. A couple more volunteers would have made a huge difference.

I guess I'm a little bummed that everyone talks about wanting to do something to save areas but when we plan an event that has a chance to make a difference no one is around to help. Just talking about saving areas doesn't do any good.

On a positive note, the new bumper stickers are available through CBU, give Kerry a call and he'll get you hooked up. You can get contact info at www.balanceduse.org. If anyone has any other ideas about festivals or places we can advertise the license plates and pass out some info let me know. We are going to do Catapalooza next year and hopefully try to get more of the Mountain bike crowd involved. A lot of the people we talked to were mostly concerned with closures to mountain bikes so we are going to try to get some local bike shops involved next year. Another big thanks to Justin at Code Red and Power Play Motorsports for their support!
