I'm looking at a 2008 M8 and a 2007 M8. Is there differences in the model years or are they the same sleds performance wise and weight.

07 is brand new, 08 has a few miles so that is not a big factor.

Thanks

About the only difference is in the rear skid and the spindles up front. The skid on the 08 runs a fox float instead of torsion springs, which way superior to the 07 skid. The spindles give a tighter turning radius on the 08. I'd say the upgrade in the rear skid is worth an extra $500 or so if the 08 is more then the 07.

The skid upgrade that was mentioned shaved some weight too, I think it was about 5-6 pounds, maybe more?

The 08 skid is awesome! The sharper turning radius makes a huge difference too. if the price difference is small, I'd suggest the 08.

Performance wise they were the same sled. Weight wise the 07 was a little heavier. The rear skid is lighter with the floats, but the ride quality of the floats is still up for debate compared to the stock 07 suspension in my mind because the fox floats are responsive enough for me (Im used to very responsive shocks on my DH bike). You can upgrade the 07 to the float set up for around $400 (pm freeagent) if you would like though to save some weight. As for the spindles they are different on the 08 and turn sharper, but I have riden a couple of 08's compared to my 07 and I couldn't notice the difference at all.

rear skid is much better ride wise in 07, a little heavier but at least it doesn't bottom out everytime you hit more than one bump in a row!!!

Thanks for all the info. I went with the 2008, an M8 162". The first thing on it will be a 2010 seat and a riser, then ice scratchers.

I wonder how the Cat will get along with my 700 Dragon in the trailer?
