Well this year it's time for a new winter outfit. I'm looking at castle X?
Wondering is anybody has this jacket? Or even any other similer jacket from castle X? I think it looks awesome, but how warm, strong is it? Also how well does the water proof work? Just looking for general thoughts on it. Would also be getting the matching nightmare switch pants when/if I do buy. I know there will be some of you saying I should just buy klim, and get the best right away. But I only make it to the mountains maybe two times in a year, so I don't need the best there is. Klim could also use a little help in making their jackets look good. Just looking for a general, good all around jacket that looks good at the same time. Wondering what you think of castle's stuff? This is the link to the jacket I would be getting.

I wear a Castle X Switch jacket (a few years old), bought it from a guy off this site. I've used it one season and I like it a lot, never been cold or wet(but haven't used it on a real wet day). Just make sure you wear the proper attire under the coat. Can't vouch for the pants as I wear another brand.

I use both the coat and the pants.
I've had them both for 2 years now and while I always use "Tech wash" and their waterproofing stuff on anything I wear sledding, I can say I've never been wet in the stuff.
It moves real well and is comfortable.
If there is a downside to the brand I'd say the coat is a little too warm which limits my ability to layer.
On those days I just carry an extra light coat.

Good stuff though, I don't regret buying it at all. (Stylin' too) !!!

I have a Castle x jacket similar to it and love it. Very warm and usually end up taking the liner out of it. Has many pockets which is always good, and never had a problem with it getting wet.

Well contrary to to others, I found the coat doesn't breath well. While I can't call it wet, I would be damp under the TekVest when wearing it. Same thing on pants. Other problem was the velcro on sleeves coming unstitched.

Otherwise they are good gear, not the best, but worth the cost of them. And they are far more stylish than most. BTW I've got the 07 Switch Camo coat and pants. I still wear them after repairing the velcro. Especially on really cold days, cause they are a bit on the warm side.

Both my wife and daughter have had castle pants and jackets for 2 years now. They really like them. I can't say for myself. After outfitting them with everything from goggles to sleds, I was stuck with used Ebay crap.:)

I have a pair of castlex bibs and i'm disapointed with them. They are already ripping out with one season on them (about 18 days of riding). I also have a pair of their ELEVATION GLOVE and they don't breathe at all so my hands get wet with sweat in under an hour. I contected them and they don't seem have want to replace anything. Any one have any luck with a warenty from them? I guess you get what you pay for. If you have the money go Klim or HMK.

i have e set of the switch pants from last year, they are holding up good, they arent super waterproof, but they see a lot of use, as i sled at least every weekend all winter, and i snowboard in them equally as much. i like them cuz they are so solid, havent gotten and rips, and i get hung up in the running boards a bit. i was thinking about getting one of their coats as well as i could use a new one.

I bought a pair of their boots and pants. didnt like either one. they dont even have a gortex lining which would explain why their jackets dont breath.
its a cheap brand and you get what you pay for. if staying dry is important to you stay away from casle x.

I have the CR2 coat and Switch pants. I found the coat to be to warm and it does not breathe also and with no removable liner it was hard to layer. The switch pants were ok except for the velcro I was constantly repairing it. Their boots suck right along with the elevation gloves which I bought also. I called them directly(dealer friend gave me the #) about my right boot leaking and they gave me the run around and told me to send them in(my cost) to be evaluated and then maybe they would replace them.
Klim has a lifetime warranty on all goretex items so thats what I'm wearing from now on!

I have the castle x platform coat and bibs. Yeah they probably don't breath as well as others but it's the dryest I've ever been and I used to use the Polaris stuff. I got the whole set new for $135 as it was on closeout plus 15% off when I bought my sled. Tough to go wrong with that. I would buy castle again. Just not the castle fusion boot!

^^^ As would I, and I've had great luck with the Fusion boot. Held up well, kept feet warm and dry. Do seem a bit on the bulky side, but otherwise I've loved them. I ride with a couple guys who wear the Klim boots and it seems their feet are always cold.

Wow for most part this sounds good. I can see these aren't the best thing in the world right now, but it sounds like they do the job pretty well. As long as they keep me drier than the cheap $150 Ocean Pacific jacket I have right now I'll be happy. it doesn't block out any water, anything that wants to get in can. I'm think from what you guys have said that this is the route I'm going to take. I'm also looking at a tek vest, so I might end up riding with out the liner in the jacket on some days, but that's fine with me, I'd rather be warm that cold. As for the pants, right now I'm running Grerande snowboard pants, they are lightweight and quite warm, but not very strong. Didn't take long for those to get rips from the use they got sledding, they aren't made to take that kind of rough treatment. But yeah sounds pretty good, Thanks guys.

ok well I pretty much ready to buy now, I thought you could buy the stuff right off their site? Now it doesn't look like it. Anybody know of a good online store that stocks castle X stuff? In Canada would be even better if you know of someplace.

Thanks.

I have the switch coat and pant set. I like them but they break in like leather seats in a truck. Not very much. Feel a little bulky, but I only think about it when I am putting them on. Then I remember why I put them on and smile because I am going to ride. bought them from Bristow's in Minnesota. Mike was real good to work with and more than willing to ship out. Just be sure to get a coat with the removable liner. It makes a world of diffrence in comfort and cooling.

Hey thanks, I checked it out but they don't have the new stuff on their site yet, might call them.
