Just got a Gold/Black secondary spring from Carl's. As I was installing it, I noticed that it is a very tight fit in the spring cup. It is almost as though the spring wire diameter or the just the spring itself is too wide. I can get it to fit in the cup but the sides of the springs rub on the side of the cup. Ultimately what I am concerned about is binding. It does not spin very freely at all in the cup.
I called Carl's and they said to simply file off the square edge of the first coil on the top and bottom of the spring. That did not help.
Am I correct in assuming the spring needs to spin freely in the cup? Has anyone else experienced this?
I have 5 other springs - Red/Pink, Black/White, Red/Black, etc. - all of them fit loosely inside and spin very easily.
thanks...
