carls cycle 975 info

just bought an 05 with carls 975 bb. has a small aluminum intake in the nose and slp exhaust. need info on these things. what fuel ratio/clutching and gearing for 7500 plus elevation and a setup for low elevation. 1000 ft. how many rpm should i be looking to turn this thing? what color injectors shuld this be running? what should i set idle speed at? tps voltage ranges? any info on this engine would be appreciated!!

thanks in advance.

Ah ha, so you are the one who bought the sled I was going to buy...lol

Ask BiggDawg or Guidoxpress, they both have 975's. Biggdawg's is even together and running..lol

I figured that was the sled...

Don't have time to get detailed..will next week if u still need the info.

But Zane...its better to have a 975 then not to have one...sucka!! ;)

That is a matter of opinion, I would rather be able to pull up to the pump and fill my tank than to have to run AV gas.:face-icon-small-ton

I'm on my 4th season with a Carl's Cycle 975 and this year I am running a head from RKTech so I can run premium pump gas. I lost about 200 RPM with the change to the lower compression heads and havent bought lighter weights yet. But it still runs awsome and no more pain in the wallet of buying race gas.

If it has an 05 SLP pipe it should be turning 7500 and if it has an 06 pipe look for 7800. That is straight from Chris Kasel at Carl's.

When I bought my sled it had, what I was told was, a Van Amburg aluminum intake that took air right at the nose. The problem with it was that it would plug up with snow and then bog way down. This year I switched over to a Fire and Ice.

I think your intake was from tri city performance its sounds just like my old one i will try to dig up a picture.

i would imagine it has the 05 pipe but not sure. is there any quick way to find out on those pipes? also do you have a pic of how your can is installed and braced? mine kinda just flops around at the moment

that looks like the intake i have. does the carls cycle setup still utilize the totally stock 900 head?

yes they modify the stock 900 head for the 975. you can get an SLP billet head and have the domes moachined by RKT and even have them modify it for pump gas, but its still in the "testing" phase by a few people...i will be one of them hopefully soon also.

the SLP 05 pipes have a shorter outlet that connects to the can, the 06 is shorter overall...if you take a pic of your pipe, we can confirm for you.

the can should mount to the side of the bulkhead with a bracket on a rubber gromment, my bracket broke off, but if you have it tight on the pipe, and secured with a spring on the lower section of the pipe, you would be fine.

They machine the stock head out to fit the biger bore. When I got mine done it looked like the squish area was machined for the bigger bore but the dome area still looked unmachined.

Spring I added to the inboard side because of the movement. I needed to do this to keep the pipe from moving so much and hitting the Fire n Ice intake. Hard to see in the picture but spring goes from silencer to a loop I bolted to the chain case.
