Carl's Clutch Kit?

What is the cost of Carls kit for the 800 Pro, what is changed, and is it just for primary or is there a different helix for the secondary as well??? What is the cost? Is it worth the price?

Just got one for my 2013 600 pro and it was 275.00. It included a new helix, primary spring, belly buster weights, and two delrin washers for the secondary.

All you need for install is standard hand tools. You can leave the primary on the machine. To change the spring remove 6 cover bolts noteing where the cover lines up on the clutch. Should be an "X" on it. If you are not changing the spring then you can just pry the clutch open after removing the belt and wedge it open. Then just remove the weight pins with a 3/8 socket and allen wrench. Note which side the nut is on.

For the helix, remove the center bolt holding the driven on. On the back remove the 4 screws that hold the helix in. These are probably Torx screws. You may need to tap the helix or pry it lightly to get it to pop up.
You now need to compress the ring that the rollers are on and remove the snap ring. A SLP clutch compression tool makes this easy but not a must. Reassemble in reverse of disassembly.

I have two options for our clutch kit, the first is the bolt on parts only which includes our custom cut dual angle helix, EPI weights, springs, and delron washers. Parts come to $271.85 but if you use promo code PARTSMW you can save an extra 10%. The second is the same kit but you send your clutch to me and it is cut and balanced and that adds $175 in labor to the above parts list. Target RPM is 8200.

been running the carls stuff for many years. Whatever they tell you it works, Talk to Chris whatever they tell you it gains he tells it straight how it is and it will perform as they tell you it will.

Pulls Harder

Can anyone comment on the performance gains from this kit? im curious

I can confirm with my *** on the seat dyno...it pulls alot harder.

Stock 2012 Pro 800 with Stock Secondary Clutch Kit.
2011 Assault with Carl's Secondary Clutch kit.

These were the two sled a buddy and I had in the Snowies last year. Mine was the stock 2012, his was the Assault. We would swap secondaries in a matter of minutes on the mountain and then re-run our sleds and I could tell that my sled with the Carl's Secondary Setup pulled alot harder than with the Stock Secondary Setup.

He could also tell that his sled didn't have as much "snap" with my stock secondary setup as compated to his Carl's setup.

Was the kit for the assualt only modified in the secondary with the primary stock?

Primary stock, with heavier weights as it was ported and different head. My sled was stock and primary with 58's. I would do a pull with stock clutching (both secondary and primary) and then do a pull with carl's secondary (dual angle helix/spring) and could tell a difference for sure. It would pull considerably HARDER.

While I had the Carl's secondary on my sled, Jesse's Assault would have my stock secondary and he could tell a difference in the way his sled pulled...it felt weak and didn't pull like it did with his (Carl's) secondary on it.

There is a difference for sure. On a climb, it (Carl's) feels like it stays in the "Power" band longer than the stock does...it doesn't shift out into the "higher" gear...if that makes any sense?

I could tell a difference for sure and just recently sent a "PM" to Mike at Carl's Cycle on here for a price quote and for exactly what I need. I will definately be getting their "kit" for sure. Nice thing is....they are running a discount for Snowest members.

There Clutch set up is dialed!!! give them your info and Chris and the guys at Carl's will hit the nail on the head!! Well worth the money, There clutch cut and balance is worth every penny as well. Ive seen better belt life, and a cooler clutch. The crew at Carl's spend countless hours testing everything they produce for there customers. Jack does not like anything going out of his shop, unless it works and works well. There is no questions on performance, when they release products..
When you get your clutch back it will hook up and pull like you can't emagine!!!

I know there are some of there kits in AK. don't know if Jack and the guys have done any testing a sea level, they would have to anwser that one. Just Give them a Call at 208-853-5550 ask for Chris in performance. He will anwser any question you may have. He will give it to you stright!

I had Carl's setup my clutching on my 600 iq last year and because of how impressed I was with it and how well the sled runs...I am definitely going to have their clutching and their cut and balance in my 13 pro! Don't question it. You won't be disappointed.

Carl's Kit

I put in one of Carl's kits and OMG what a difference!! :face-icon-small-hap Clutch cut, balance, helix, springs, BB weights, and washers. Seat of the pants pull with a stock sled is awesome! Tremendous mid to upper pull!

Thanks Carl's for the great set-up, very much like it!

On their website there is a vid that runs a stocker head to head with a clutched stocker. Not much comparison, pretty dramatic difference from a dead stop all the way through to top end. Should answer your question with regards to the performance increase.:face-icon-small-coo
