Carlisle Ultimax XS809???

I bought a Carlisle Ultimax XS809 which is what was on my 06 900 when I bought it. The new one looks nothing like the old one... I'm wondering if it could be a knock off or just redesigned? The old belt supposedly had 400 miles on it. Yet when I changed the belt to the new one I had to adjust the secondary in instead of out. so the new belt was narrower. maybe I should have gone back to the polaris belt???

I have been running gates belts now for over a year. They are nice belts and so far have outlasted the Polaris 1115 belts. They are the exact dimensions as the Polaris 1115 belt as well so no adjustment really

Did you check the sheave/belt clearance in the primary?

That is not a "knock off" belt, they changed the design some and you do have the real thing.

Been running that belt for 3 years on my 900 (0 miles this year however) and it still looks really good. Use it on all of our sleds in fact and have yet to have a failure.

I went off of the manufacturers specs and off of my own measurements. I know Zman is running the gates belts as well. As for side x side comparison, they are identical according to my calipers.

To check do I: push belt to one side and slide feeler gauge between other side and sheave face? what should I get for a reading?

I measured .035" on the new belt. I didn't have time to swap the old belt back in and measure it. so lets say the old belt reads .015 should I run a few hundred more miles then swap new belt and shim. or run the new belt tomorrow which will probably be the last ride of the season then shim the primary?

If you have time, shim for the new belt and get it broke in tomorrow. Put your "old" belt in the carrier for a spare.

Or, run the old one for the last day and mess it with when you have more time.
