carbon fiber skid plate

I wouldn't think you'd hit something hard enough to shatter a carbon fiber skid plate, and if you did you would probably have more problems/damage than a shattered skid plate. If anything I would think you'd want the skid plate to break on a hard enough hit or impact to prevent further damage and absorb the initial impact.
i used a skid plate on my motorcycle that was a carbon / kevlar weave. I think it was made by e - line.

It looked nice and all, but the carbon seemed to be mostly on the outside and mostly for looks. Carbon is pretty strong, but i think kevlar is stronger on point impacts (ie tree stumps).
ya i was looking into the carbon/kevlar mesh as a good possibility. i dont know if the helmet comment was a joke or what, but ive seen plenty of carbon and non carbon helmets crack. that is why after a hard hit all helmet manufacturers recomend replacement. i myself have put cracks in two fox v3 carbon helmets and a sixsixone carbon/glass mix. this was racing motocross. carbon fiber and fiberglass arent very strong when it comes to impact, mostly because it doesnt really bend at its threshold, it shatters.

i bought a carbon skidplate for my xp from replicarz off of ebay. it shattered within the first 5 miles and i only hit snow no rocks. he replaced it and the same thing happened. he replaced it again and that one is hanging on my wall cause it looks cool, but thats all it can do is look cool
