Carbon fiber 1100 turbo

This spring I picked up 2013 1100 turbo, it is my first four stroke but I thought it would be a fun project, and something new to learn about. I have always owned skidoo's so I had a lot of reading to do about the cat. The sled came with a speedwerx multi tune, head studs, intake and had the factory updates done like the big fin secondary. I bought the c3 carbon tunnel fuel tank, and hood from a guy who was parting out his m8. From there it was a never ending shopping list of parts. First thing was the tear down. I liked the way the tunnel was just bolted to the bulk head. Made for an easy removal. When fitting the carbon tunnel there was a couple issues I ran into. The tunnel was designed for the m8 which has a different tcl, and the tab where the 1100 motor mount bolted could not be used. I had to cut the motor mount off of the 1100 tcl to have clearance. I ordered the osp brace to secure the motor in position and built my own engine snubber. The coolant lines where cut routed to the c3 heated boards. I installed the c3 belt drive which came with an upgraded jack shaft and new motor mount bushings. I could not believe the amount of parts I took out of the chain case! I added the heavy duty spring to the skid shock and gave the suspension a coat of white paint to match the tunnel.

The new tunnel has more clearance with the front heat exchanger gone so the belly pan had do be trimmed. Lots of room for a new track. The hardest part of this build was cutting up the hood, again it was for the m8 so it needed holes for the intake and intercooler. I found a used set of black vented side panels which looked much better. Next I made a 2.5" stainless exhaust pipe. Much more room under the hood. I welded a piece of aluminum around the intercooler with some weather stripping to seal to the hood. Now all the are is forced through for better cooling. I upgraded to the 2016 front end and had my shocks shortened. I lowered the bars an inch with a new 3.5" riser. Made a new battery box to hold a 16 cell anti gravity battery. Only 3.4lbs. Went with the bdx lightweight seat. Now just need to hook up a boost gauge. And install a snow flap. Lots of custom parts made or modified to make it work. Putting aftermarket parts on other aftermarket parts doesn't always work.

One important note for anyone with an 1100. While working on the sled I noticed the wiring harness was tacky and oily looking. I just thought the sled had been rolled and oil had leaked out at some point. But the first time I started the sled after it was complete I noticed fuel dripping. I shut the sled off and looked for a loose clamp I might have forgotten. After a close inspection when I turned the key and the fuel pump pressured up I saw bubbles forming on the fuel pressure regulator. The fpr is crimped in the center holding the two halves together. That is where the leak was coming from. So I removed it and put it in the vice, crimping it tighter all the way around. Problem solved. So it turns out the adhesive from the tape dissolved because of gas being sprayed around. Would explain why so many 1100's caught fire.

I have an 1100T and I bought the C3 CF hood direct from them. It looks EXACTLY LIKE THE HOOD YOU HAVE. I wonder what’s different, just the mounts?

My hood was for the 800 so I had to cut out the inner air box, I only have it bolted on with the two torx bolts at the rear of the hood, I could add more bolts but it is pretty solid the way it is,

I've always contemplated the 1100. Even moreso after listening to my sales guys laugh at customers who bought 1100's. As a parts guy I couldn't stand the crap they'd say to sell those things.

I would have done exactly what you did, but seeing the weight I would have been slightly disappointed I think. I was always hoping a CF 1100 would slide under 500lbs. Kinda put a small dagger in my heart knowing that's realistically not possible. I wouldn't go any further than you did.

With that being said, you did a great job building this thing up!

The only other things I could do to drop weight would be a new track and skid. The sled has great trail manners and is surprisingly nimble. It is no tree banger but that's what my 800 is for. The torque out of the 1100 is like nothing I have ever rode.

Did you ever get a full of fuel weight? Looks like a sweet build! What power level are you running?

I haven't got around to weighing it full off fuel yet, I ran it on 260hp all winter and it was wild, installing a new fuel pump and down pipe this summer so I can turn it up to 280
