Like i said. has anyone tried to ditch the cfi B.S. system and go with carbs. Also looking at installing an old style ignition 2000-2008ish system to get rid on the large stock electrical system.

I had a 900 and i like it but i did have some electrical problems with it so sold it for what i had into it and moved on........ but now im ready to take another run at it:)

any info would be great

carbs

I have not done one but I think the ECM will be the issue. I am not sure if it will stay out of limp mode without all of the sensors and the injectors. You may be able to go with a carbed CDI of a big block 800 but you will need to look at the timing curves as well as the connector to the stator. Other thing is center to center on the rack carbs matching up.
If you were doing a 08 and up 800 small block, I think the stuff off a 600 carbed would solve many of these problems. ECM may even plug into the harness but timing curve still remains an issue.
I would get a copy of both wiring schematics and start comparing. Then check with Jack Struthers and see if the timing curve that he puts in his 840 can be used on the 900. He built one based on the carbed 600. He also did a 990 big bore based on the 900 motor so he may have some good answers for you.
