Carbide Question

The carbides on my 2010 Dragon dig into my trailer floor so bad that the track spins and I cannot even drive it the length of my trailer without having someone pull/lift on the skis. I have had several other sleds in the trailer with no problems at all. Is this common with the brand new carbides? Will this improve as they are worn? Should I replace them with some older ones? I rarely ride in icy/hardpacked conditions so I doubt they need to be this good. How about some suggestions. Thanks!

I took mine off and ground them down on a wheel grinder......super hard stuff, and I am going to have to replace the grinding wheel now. I was not able to get them flush with the metal but I got them down enough that I shouldn't have any issues loading it on a trailer now.

I have runners on the front and rear ramps and obviously have no problems there. I was hoping to avoid them on the trailer floor for a number of reasons.

Next time before you do that, send me your brand new carbides and I'll send you my used set, and I'll even pay the freight, and that'll save on grinding wheels.

Just to clarify, I'm not being sarcastic here, dead serious, might even do a 2 for 1 trade.

NO KIDDING KRAVEN, must be a ***** to have sharp skags. We here in the midwest would love to start a carbide DULLING service for you. Even pay the shipping:D

You may try some kind of a ski boot for loading/unloading. Skinz makes one now that fits wide and dual runner skis. Or, as was stated you could put some trailer glides or similar on the flooring of your trailer.

Crapola...and to think I just threw away two excellant condition worn out carbide/wearbars. I just didnt think there was a market for them. I have even been running the sharper angled ones on the inside of my Simmons skis. I knew I needed a bench grinder for some reason from Santa!.
