Car detailing? Fine Clear coat scratches?

detailing a medium blue metallic car and there are numerous fine scratches (not deep as fingernail doesn't catch) that I would like to remove...Have used Meguires Scratch X and NXT wax and was wondering if there is something even better...Not a fan of the power buffer.....

This one?

you'll have to use a buffer or dual action polisher to actually fix them and not just cover them up.

meguiars 105 cutting compound
menzerna 83 SIP
menzerna 106 finishing polish
then a high quality wax for best results..

Meg M0616 is the # on my bottle. It comes up as a good # on the Meg. Web site............ :beer; :beer;

Used Meg several years ago. eh, didn't really care for it. Found this stuff in the mid 90's when it sold for $30 a bottle and never turned back. Can't describe how awesome this product is. Last bottle I bought at Walmart for $10.

What about swirl marks. Got some in my black Dodge Ram from using a buffer on it. Almost looks like I ruined the clear coat?

polish (maybe cut if its bad enough) your paint again or have a pro do it.. a buffer is hard for a beginner to use and thats why you got your swirls.

I use FLITZ on my black harleys, windshields and girlfriend. They all polish up nice and take out the fine scratches.

3000 grit sand paper..works perfect than foam pad with trizac

So this is the best way! 3000 grit WET sandpaper used very lightly. The I would go with Adams polishes products www.adamspolishes.com. I use there polish, scratch remover and wax and it is a 3 step process but really works well. As for buffer swirls all you can do is cover them up they will never go away. When a cut compound is used on a Wool pad it cuts and scrapes into the clear coat. To keep them down you have to wax and wax and wax. The best buffer on the market that does not cut into the clear is made by Porter Cable.

Just curious where you get your information. Because it is not true. Swirl marks CAN be removed instead of covered. And the buffer does not cut into the clear, the products you use with it do. Wow.

Polish by hand, or buffer?
Thanks
By buffer. To get the most out of the polish you need the heat that a buffer can produce.

Cutting smooths out the clear coat so it'll remove deep scratches, then finer polishes remove the finer scratches til its a perfect surface again, then you wax, wax, wax..
