O.k guys, here goes. I just had my motor out for its annual rebuild, and after reinstalling, after I start her, she fires right up like she should after a new top end, but I installed a ftx throttle block, so that doesn't work. Kill switch that is. Also the key doesn't work, and the other kill switch that I have wired up to that. What gives? I'm thinking they are isolated problems. Ftx kill switch/throttle block only has one plug, and I think I got it right. Any ideas? I'm pretty sure I haven't forgot about a plug under the fuel tank, that may convey these switches....Am I missing something????
:face-icon-small-con Sean, I know your running the ftx throttle block, please enlighten if you will....

sure sounds like you forgot a connector or a wire pushed out when you plugged it in.

hmm...so no kill switch, key, or tether is working?

i have had kill switchs go bad..i had to wiggle them to kill the motor...but sounds like you have a ground issue...

both connectors on EACH coil plugged in?

i would unplug ALL 3 things and install 1 at a time and see if you get it to shut off then...just an idea.

on your main kill switch wiring from you throttle block, where do the wires tie into? Just your main wiring harness? What I'm trying to figure out, with out pulling my tank out again, is that I don't remember any real extra plugs that I may have forgot to plug in when I put the motor back in. I can't see the sled even firing up if I forgot any of the plugs. I do remember there being some extra wires that I cut when I took the stock throttle block switch assembly apart when I replaced with the ftx. Is there just the one kill switch plug that I use with the ftx? Also on the key end of things, which wires do you splice in the add-on tether kill switch? So frustrating!! I've never had any issues with not being able to shut the motor off after starting!!!!

the kill switch wires just plug into the stock wiring that goes to the handlebars...theres only 3 plugs on the throttle side of the bars..

1 is for the thumb warmer
1 is for the grip heater
1 is for the kill switch

did you mix the wiring up...like did you plug the thumb warmer wire into the kill switch..wonder if you completed some kind of loop and basically stopped the grounding process by doing this..

UNPLUG ALL wiring on the throttle side..and try shutting the sled off with the key at that point...

and see if you did that by accident...just a thought i had...could be, might not be..

Thanks guys for the ideas. I have fixed the problem through process of elimination!! I checked the continuity of the main kill switch, and it was indeed working fine. One of my wires that runs from the key plug was not hooked up properly. Quick ground fix. Super stoked. I'm 100 percent ready for the season. :face-icon-small-hap

Yeah, I made sure that anything I needed to do, had to be done over the summer. Unlike last year, I never had my motor in until the middle of december. Missed some pow rides. Can't let that happen again!!
