Yup..That's a HUGE holiday travel weekend. Avoid it at all costs. But utah will be empty on those dates cuz all the idiots from that state will be in Idaho & Montana, raising hell & carnage on everything camping. They're a very disrespectful bunch.May 22-25th is Memorial Day weekend. 3-day weekend with tons of people traveling. Roads will be full of f#*king idiots pulling campers and boats and the like.
You should be fine any other time in May.
I was taking my truck and travel trailer down from Montana to Utah (from here in BC) then head over west and go up the Oregon coast. What are some "Must see's" along the way? I've never been down there. I was thinking of taking a couple weeks to do it.
Yup. The park, (Yellowstone) opens about the 15th of april but that's too soon to really enjoy it. The first couple of weeks in May are excellent for visiting the park. No crowds, & the critters are out & about. & the town of West Yellowstone is right at the park's border, with plenty of RV spaces.Swing through West and IP, Yellowstone should be open by then and you will beat the summer crowds.
The west entrance to Old Faithful is always open by the middle of April. From O.F south to Jackson Hole might take another week or two. & the sleds you saw in town were probably rentals for sale at dealerships. West has very, very little going on from the end of Mar. until the end of April. Most Ma & Pa type stores shut down for this period, as do a lot of restaurants & hotels. I should know, I lived there for 13 yrs. Moved in 07.redwood national park northern california. last april 28th we come thru west back from las vegas and that day they opened road from west to south entrance and we seen sleds all over town yet so you may be a little early to enjoy the weather around yellowstone
I thought that every day was a holiday in Obamaland?
