Can you transfer a US Polaristar warranty to Canada? NO!

UPDATE 12/03/2012 - YOU CANNOT TRANSFER THE POLARISTAR WARRANTY BETWEEN US AND CANADA. Spent a bunch of time with the underwriting company Assurant clarifying this and the best option would be to return the unused portion of the warranty and then repurchase another warranty in the destination country. Not the answer I had hoped for but that is the policy. Good information to know.

Looking at selling my sled with a US Polaristar warranty to someone in Canada. Anyone know if you are allowed to transfer it?

I know you can within the US, just not sure about when going to Canada.

THANKS

I would call them but they are not open until Monday. Hope to have a good idea before than.

Nope. Sold 11 Pro to a guy in Canada and warranty was no good up there!

I didn't have much luck in my 06 with warranty transfer. I bought it a year old with US warranty and brought it to Canada. When the water pump went and took out the crank Polaris Canada and Polaris USA wouldn't cooperate to honour my warranty

Nope. No manufacturer warranty will transfer. They don't want us playing with each other because the exchange rate varies and either we are running up to Canada or the Canadians are running down here to safe a bunch and they are trying to keep the field level.

I should have been more specific, I hope this helps:sorry:

We thought for sure the factory 1 year warranty WILL NOT work but we did think there was a good chance for the extended Polaristar.

Anyone have luck with that?

Just got off the phone with Polaristar and there are no issues transferring the extended warranty from USA to Canada.

Process is the same as if I sold it to someone else here in the states.

Sounds like factory warranty is another story.

This is directly from the ESC provider, I was shut down last year. Just leave it in your name, "you" are covered while traveling.

Transfers
ESCs may be transferred once between the customer and a subsequent retail purchaser of the approved unit. Coverage remains the same for the time and mileage remaining on the ESC. A transfer may be handled through the Polaris Dealer that takes the unit in on trade and the subsequent purchaser. In this event, the transfer is done between the previous and the new owner. The unit may not be transferred to the Polaris Dealer. Transfers do not apply to units put on consignment, repossessed by financial institution, or sold by an auction or an intermediary to the sale. Proof of Manufacturer’s Warranty and proof of maintenance must be included in the application if required.
NOTE: Transfers between U.S. to Canada and Canada to U.S. are not eligible.
Transfer Procedure - CANADA
The customer MUST contact USPC at 1-866-301-7375 prior to submitting any transfer paperwork or a check. The check must include the applicable tax and this will be calculated by the Administrator. The Administrator will provide the customer with the form and advise them of the fee calculation. The Customer will need to return forms with check made payable to ASCI in Canada:

So it sounds like in 2012 the extended warranty company switched and that is why the difference in answers.

So it looks like if your sled is 2012+ you can transfer the warranty as long as the person who has it has had the warranty effective for 60 days.

Maybe this is true for 2012 and newer but on the 2011 we bought out of the states they denied warranty. The best part is that it was originally approved so a whole new dropin motor was installed then they some how denied it, claimed that it did not transfer across the border and they never noticed it to start with.

The warranty is good in Canada, just that the ownership can not be transfered from States to Canada or vice versa. We ran into the same issue last year at our dealership, they stated verbaly that it was ok. On the dealer trasfer site we got a message stating that it could not be processed do to a terms of use violation. IT WILL NOT TRANSFER!

If you get Assurant to transfer it, LET ME KNOW HOW.
