Selling my sled, have a Canadian guy who would like to buy it, but the sled has no title and i tried over and over again to get a title for it with no luck at all.
just wondering if anyone has any information on this
Thanks
AJ

What state are you in? I know here in MN you can get sleds without vins/tunnel was replaced or built from the ground up, licensed as "homemade" etch some numbers in the side and the state can get them reg.
Not sure if that works for your state as well.

WA state has not title for sleds, just registration.

This summer, I bought an old m/c from Canada B4 Alberta had titles for m/c's....

Best bet is call the border (not boarder like a lot say here) where you will be crossing, give them your story and the VIN of the machine. They can check it out ahead of time and tell you what will be required......Worked 4Me.......

There are quite a number of states that do not have titles for snowmobiles. I remember my supprise when I found out that some had titles!

it is up to the buyer to do the paperwork at the border.

US customs has a form that you fill out if your sled is in a state that doesn't have titles. Very easy to do because it is just a legal declaration that the sled being exported has the sn listed on the form.

if you need a copy of that form, pm me.

Maybe the same moron that didn't know some states do not title snowmobiles?

I would have taken the high road here imdoo'n but someone already pointed this little factoid out in an above post.;)

I went back and noticed that he is a noob.:p:p

When I sold my sled to a guy in Canada a few years ago I gave him a bill of sale and off he went. I never got any phone calls so I assume he had no problems. He picked it up in Puyallup and took it to Vancouver.

not many provinces in the great white north, will register a sled without a tittle, there pj sorry but post count disappeared a little while ago. i don't seem to have as much time to sit in front of computer as you, maybe i'm sledding instead of wanabee posting

If that sled had been totaled before they can detitle them, then you have to go to the DMV and start with them. Anyway that is in OR, a friend of mine has a wrecken yard and deals with that on occasion.

Just my two Penny's

you may not get sled across border without tittle, you also need a bill of sale sent to border xing 72 hrs before you can cross. you also need a country origin form for safety compliance, and also a recall completion form before you can cross border. you also must have vehicle inspected by federal site within 45 days of crossing or government can destroy vehicle. try to get all forms before you try to cross border as after it is near impossible to get, after you cross.

rules may have change, not 100% sure, but things are a lot easier with all the paper work.

yes i may be wrong, the original post was sled going to canada, most if not all provinces require registration and you will need a tittle. as you say some states you may not need. sledding in the steep and deep, all good.
