Can I use this connecting rod?

I took my kids Poo 600 apart for a top end freshen and inspection since the base gasket on the PTO side was sweating coolant.

I also noticed that there was some noise coming from one of the rod bearings, which turned out to be the mag side upper bearing. It looks to be blued from heat, but the lower section of the journal has me concerned as it's rough to the touch.

Can I use this rod with some clean up? The motor has 5500mi on it since it was rebuilt. I know we put one new rod (Hotrod) in it at the time, but I can't recall which side.

Any advice would be appreciated.

I've had luck cleaning up roughness on a journal bearing surface as long as the extent of the roughness lies on the surface of the journal. What you have almost appears by the photos to have worked its way into the surface. I personally would have a difficult time using that rod for a rebuild.
