Keep in mind, this isn't the best place to ask about trail sleds, or values in the NE. For a mountain sled with that kind of mileage, even with a proper motor refresh, I don't see much over $3000, unless it was babied by someone who just puttered around for most those miles. With proper maintenance, even in the mountains and rode hard, a sled can go past that, but I'd guess it'd be a couple top ends and at least one crank rebuild in (not to mention regular clutch service and balances, alignment, belts – stuff that's a stealth killer of bottom ends).
Personally, I wouldn't put that kind of money into any sled with that many miles unless the motor was redone and the runout and leakdown results were perfect. Also, if the shocks haven't been serviced, they'll probably be junk. Certainly, a trail sled is less likely to have stuff bent and broken than a mountain sled, so maybe $4000-4500 is reasonable if the engine checks out. That said, if a '17 with 5000 miles is really worth, say, $6000, then I'd be looking for either a 15-17 with half the mileage for $7000, or a new sled. If you're paying half the cost of new for something that's going to blow up in less than half the miles, it makes sense to either step up to the new one or step down to a Pro chassis with low miles. But again, I'm just extrapolating based on what I know of shopping and buying a mountain sled this summer and what you're seeing sleds listed for in your area.
